"A Branch-Man is when the retired bishop (not to be confused with the

Archbishop) is ready for ascension, to start the ritual he is brought to a

special shelter that is isolated from the others where he is then laid on a

special ritual rug that has a large marking on it for the nurses to use as

guide. They sew on extra limbs to mimic branching which is a spiritual

symbol that holds great importance to these people. The source of the

limbs is unknown as of right now, but it is most likely limbs from the

previous Branch-Man. This is done without anesthesia or analgesic

drugs as they see the pain as a part of the process. Whether or not the

bishop survives the process and then subsequent conclusion will

determine his strength and worthiness for his new body. Anyone near

the bishop during his transformation to Branch-Man and there after is to

ignore his cries as ordered by the bishop himself before the ritual takes

place. It is said that the ritual is only fully complete when the Branch-

Man gains full mobility throughout all of his limbs and during this time

he will gain great knowledge as well. An example would be the ability

to tell the future of someone, just by looking at them. An actual

completed Branch-Man ritual has never been documented before

though, and it would be safe to assume they most likely die during or

soon after their surgery."
