“I haven’t,” said Garrus cautiously. “It sounds… Terrible.” He had looked up the location once, and found a sprawling city perched precariously on the water. Precariously, according to further research, atop a very violent fault line prone to go off at any moment. Its streets had appeared, depending on the angle, like Omega or Illium, with a class divide too stark to ignore. All this, he might have tolerated, or at least have been willing to engage with. Its monuments and landscapes were beautiful, if you looked past the metropolis itself, and even the city had a bleak sort of charm. But the snow? Absolutely not. Or rather, only for Shepard. “I read that whenever it isn’t snowing there, it’s only to make room for the rain.” He eyed Shepard. “Do you… like the cold? Or is it more of an absence of hatred?”

It had taken only moments for Tali to get tangled up on Shepard, curling close on his lap and resting her helmet against his shoulder, as if that could replicate the need for closeness that nothing ever quite fulfilled when stuck in her suit. They’d need to wait- until they were sure she wouldn’t get sick from the cryo, until she’d buffed up her immune system and sterilized the room- but she wanted him to look at her face, to see her, to feel him properly. “This is torture.” Tali bemoaned glumly, feeling as if she’d never hated the envirosuit more acutely than this moment. “I am- incandescent to see you. I am so happy! It would have been hell to be stuck here alone but you’re here and Garrus and Liara and that’s incredible! But I want to kiss my cute human boyfriend now and I hate this!” With a groan, she twisted up to look at him, gloved fingers lifting to skim along his jawline then his shoulders and upper arms. Very nice ones, very strong. “And I know that’s very selfish… You have been here alone, with all these humans- no offense- for how long, now? I am sorry I wasn’t here earlier… And I hope you’re not thinking this is your problem to solve all by yourself because it’s not. Your crew is here.”

he inclined his head in a gesture of acceptance. the head shots ban was probably a good idea – jason didn’t know exactly how experienced stacy was. seemed athletic enough, but which martial arts she’d trained in – if any – was up in the air, and would only be determined once she’d rolled out her fighting stance. besides that, jason was taller than her by a long shot. she’d have trouble getting in range as it was, let alone going for his skull. unless she was particularly nimble.

which he hadn’t ruled out yet. a man could hope.

“no rules on my end,” he said. then, in part because she apparently liked her nose the way it was, and in part because he felt like being condescending, he added: “just try not to walk into a hit, please. i want an actual challenge.” he shifted his feet and brought his guard up. “let’s go, stacy. we don’t have all week.” they actually did have all week, given that they were trapped in some kinda liminal goddamn space, but jason wasn’t feeling accuracy at the moment. that was reserved for his strikes.

As much of a superhero she may be , Gwen was not a fighter. It was not something she would be willing to admit , but it was still true even if she’d deny it. Which , she would , because she had to inspire confidence , she had to be a hero. She was a bit worried about what she was getting herself into here , because she could already tell Jason wasn’t some dumbass in the alleys of New York. This would be a challenge , a genuine one. 

She wasn’t sure if she was more excited about that , or nervous.

“does earth always take winter this seriously?” garrus can’t keep the amusement from his tone. he is clad in appropriate clothing, and despite the chill, isn’t entirely uncomfortable. perhaps this has something to do with shepard’s presence. “i still don’t understand why it needs to be cold. don’t humans migrate? doctor michel – do you remember her? – she said her parents generally spent their winters by earth’s equator.”

It made her a jittery, nervous sort of excited to be on her way to see Bruce. Zatanna had gotten used to almost only interacting with people she didn't know. That aspect didn't exactly bother her, she could make friends with anyone, but she never felt comfortable truly baring herself, vulnerabilities and thoughts unless she'd known someone a while. And Bruce had seen her in all manner of hellish experiences. And it was- well, him. She'd missed being around and working with him, even before when her focus back home had shifted from the League to the JL Dark. Given how startling it was to wake up here, Zee mostly just wanted to make sure he was as okay as possible, and if he wanted a suit, she'd be a familiar person to go get a suit with. Striding up to where they'd planned to meet, she finally spotted him, and a warm smile overtook her face. "You're incorrigible. Here I thought I'd finally get to see you in space cruise forced vacation wear and you already want a suit." Her expression softened, almost hesitant, as she reached the distance where she'd maybe go for a hug if she weren't unsure if he'd accept, and then a smirk took over instead. "Not that I'm complaining, you do look very nice in them... Hi, Bruce."

The gardens were gorgeous, and hardly similar to the vegetation on Ahch-To, but that was where Rey’s mind tended to wander to when she attempted to meditate there, to turning the events of the last months of the resistance over and over in her mind, in a way she knew she ought to just let go. There was no turning back now. She’d made her way up to the observation deck instead, to admire the contrast of the sterility of the ship against the wonder of the stars, but the Force gave her a prickle of awareness- warning?- as she nearly entered, though that hardly slowed her down. 

No, Rey barreled in, as usual, and saw- it had to be him. Vader. The very concept of whom had been such a catalyst for Ben, the one who’s helmet and existence they fought around. Her face shuttered down to coldness before she forced herself to consider the parallels there, at which point Rey consciously made herself relax. “Hi.” The words were still guarded. “I hope you’re alright with me taking the name. Not that I meant it as yours, just as Luke’s, but I suppose it came from you in the first place.”

He remained silent as she spoke , taking in the situation as best he could. He had no physical weapon , but neither did she. The Force was strong within her , that much he could feel , but was she as strong as he? He wouldn't let his guard down , because he knew the answer could be yes. Anakin could tell that her guard was not down either , by the tone in her voice and the way she looked at him , but he took no offense to it.

“As well as one can be being dropped into an insane future.” Helaena explained, “My brothers would have even more reason to label me insane.” Helaena mentioned non-chalantly taking a sip of her own coffee.  “This place hurts my head a lot but I enjoy it.. no one knows my family really.  It is like a chance to do better you know.” 

Diana was humming along to Frank Sinatra as she moved around the kitchen with grace.  She was no master chef, just someone with years of practice underneath her belt.  She had begun food prepping as she waited for Bruce to arrive.  She diced a few vegetables, washed and preskinned some potatoes.  Pre filled a pot on the stove that she would have Bruce work at once he arrived.  She figured he could use the practice on learning how to bring things to a boil.  It was a bit humorous to Diana the thought of Bruce struggling in the kitchen.  She figured he had never contemplated a life without Alfred.   She envied him, it had been so long since she ever relished such a thought.  She missed it, perhaps it is why she kept Bruce and Clark so close.  They both had their own ways of reminding her on why humanity is so beautiful and worth protecting.  “It’s open!” She called out midhum at the sound of someone nearing her door.  “Just make sure too take your shoes off at the door.” She added as she turned away from her kitchen toward the entry way.  

He hadn't felt so nervous in a while , and he knew it was because Diana was a friend. Bruce wasn't fond of admitting his shortcomings , but he had grown up in a mansion , raised by a butler who would not let him in the kitchen often. And if there was one thing Bruce knew for a fact , it was that he did not want to anger Alfred. He'd done it before , and he was wise enough now to not be on the receiving end of that ire.

“That doesn’t seem very… constructive.” It was weird to be without a goal. Even a goal as simple as survival. Rey appreciated the honesty, but it left a disquieting feeling, only intensifying her suspicion that there was something far deeper here going on. She huffed, rolling her eyes. “I’d have to find him to ask him that, wouldn’t I? I’d have about the same luck breaking into weapons storage and stealing my lightsaber back as I would wrangling him to answer a question in person.”

Rey laughed along, happy to joke about a much more easily avoided terror than whatever was secretly going on here. “That’d be exciting, at least! Well, exciting mostly for the mechanics. Not sure why I’m not one of them, but this isn’t so bad.” Her voice turned teasing towards the end and she nudged Shepard. “Council sounds like automatic bickering and stalemates. Which is, I mean, better than one all-powerful person, you know, but the way you said that makes them seem not so great.”

" That's because it's not , not really , " he offered , spinning his chair around so that he could face her. He understood why Joker was always raving about the seats , it was comfortable. " It's a waste of resources and manpower , especially when there's something else you could be doing. " He spoke from experience , though he doubted anyone on board knew that , or cared enough about him to ask the archivists what his life was like. " You manage to get in there , grab my rifle for me , would you? "

“Hullo, Chief Helmsman.” Rey chimed in a singsong with a cheeky grin. While she’d (mostly) followed Leia and Poe’s orders as the leaders of the Resistance, they’d always acknowledged her as a sort of free agent and didn’t try to restrict her too much, except out of concern for her safety. Rey’d thought it would chafe to work under someone who theoretically really could tell her what to do, but Shepard was actually quite easy to be around, and hardly seemed to mind her lack of formal working experience. 

Her nose scrunched up at the confirmation of what she’d suspected. Kriff. “So we’re… wandering, really?” Even when the Resistance hadn’t had a clear goal in mind, safety remained a priority, which led their decisions, but she couldn’t figure any priority here, so what was leading the choice in destination? “Mm, didn’t think you’d crash us. Captain might lead us somewhere strange, but at least we won’t be hitting any asteroids.” While not good, exactly, it was a weird sort of comforting to know he had no clue either. “You’re used to working like this?”. 

John had been accustomed to working with strangers for years , and his time on the Cambria would be no different. He had served as the lowest ranking crew member , had worked his way to the head position , had served with the best his galaxy had to offer. And some of the best had managed to get on his ever living last nerve. Rey was really not that bad. He’d rather have her bumping into his chair and peering over his shoulder than have to deal with the mess that was the Normandy crew. Granted , he loved that mess , it was his mess , but boy had he enjoyed his break so far. 

clark knocks on the door to bruce’s suite. in one hand he holds a folded blanket (it is black, or at least an extremely dark grey) that he found at one of the shops on planet. everything feels off balance. the ability to provide material goods to bruce wayne only adds to that. at least, beyond his mom’s cooking (he recognizes, of course, that bruce has alfred, but ma disregards this, and insists that alfred has plenty on his plate as is). ma isn’t here now, and neither is alfred. clark knows bruce has his family, and he doesn’t want to intrude, but he doesn’t want to leave his friend alone, either. he can’t.

besides, they need to figure this all out. and clark may not be quite as naive as he sometimes seems, but bruce’s mind honestly never ceases to amaze him.

“hi,” he says, when the door opens. “listen, i know you were probably joking about the– but– well.” he takes a deep breath and holds out the blanket. “here. it’s black. and i grabbed us some lunch.” he pauses. “well. alright, dinner. but it’s certifiably lunch fair; i’m hesitant to describe it as dinner.”

Bruce would not admit it , but as soon as he heard the knock , he hoped it was Jason. Even if he were there to yell at him , it would beat the radio silence he had been given. The disappointment was obvious on his face the moment he opened the door , but he quickly schooled his expression. He was sure Clark had caught it , and perhaps a part of him wanted to apologize , but he couldn’t bring himself to. Not yet , at least. Not while his mind is still running a mile a minute , trying to figure this all out. 

It had taken her awhile to arrive.  She wanted to bring Amelie a gift and she had read that she particularly liked something called Coffee.  It took her an hour to track down the right place to get it and with the help of a spunky barista she was walking through the doors into their expansive library.  “Lady De–… Amelie!” Helaena corrected herself mid call out.  “I brought coffee.” She stopped and glanced down at it.  “The barista said this combo is the most popular with people who work in the library..”

his eyes raise when gwen enters the room. he is leaning against the far wall, hands wrapped, and though his stillness doesn’t give him away, he can already feel the rhythm of a fight. he is looking forward to this. stacy hinted at being a superhero; he hopes she was telling the truth. a challenge would be nice.

“we doing this?” he pushes off the wall and beckons her toward him. he has not bothered with his sparring gloves. they wait in the wings, in case stacy calls for them. he pauses, and quirks an eyebrow. “rules?”

She knew that she was walking into this fairly unprepared. For as capable a hero was , Gwen was no physical fighter. Mostly , she won purely based on luck , or the fact she had advantages over whoever she was facing. If what Jason’s friend had said could be taken at face value , Gwen was pretty sure this was much more evenly matched than she was used to.

Meditation had never been one of Anakin’s more practiced arts. He would have been the first to admit that he was impatient , that his mind raced far too much for him to find peace. He had only known what the word had meant after his marriage , after he had woken from a nightmare of his , and the world seemed to calm itself around him as Padme curled into his side. But with the knowledge of his future weighing down his shoulders , and feeling safe in the arms of his wife no longer being an option , he settled for his other option. 

“beautiful, aren’t they?” elain all but cooed, smiling softly as her fingers brushed delicately over the petals of a nearby flower. although she had volunteered to come here; she was indeed beginning to feel somewhat homesick. “this is probably the only place here that i feel like myself.” she admitted without much thought. “when i can work on the plants… i can pretend i’m back home. before everything… fell apart.” elain whispered sadly before clearing her throat. she looked up at the other with a shy smile. “sorry. do you have a favourite plant here?” she tried to steer the conversation away from her confession. 

🪐 - had she truly expected anakin to show up? not entirely, but when he did leia had made the distinct recognition that he was younger, hadn’t become that monster yet and maybe was different than whatever scrap she’d known of her life-giver. pulling a smile at the corner of her lips, she nodded to the booth in front of her and waited patiently for him to sit before she ordered a round of drinks and the greasiest fries. she would have to thank peter quill later for the fry revelation. “anakin, thanks for coming,” she kept her voice neutral but had the practiced look of kindness on her face from years of being in politics. “i imagine you know about me and who i am by now?”
