Persephone/Proserpina
Small devotional acts.
Leave flowers at empty graves
Wear that lacy/flowery dress and the leather jacket
Wear a flower crown or flower hair pin
POMEGRANATES
Find nature and gentleness in the harshest of places
Practice your “don’t mess with me” look and posture. Use it while walking through crowds
Paint your nails dark red or wear red lipstick
When you find a small animal that has died, honor its life and death. If you can, bury it or leave it someplace for the other creatures of the forest
Go barefoot more often
Buy yourself a houseplant/s
Build your night vision, know your way in the dark
Take time to enjoy the sun whenever it is out
Drink coffee sweetened with honey
Demand respect and a listening ear from all – especially men
Decorate your home with dried flowers in the winter
When people do the unforgivable, hold them to their actions – do not forgive easily
Grow a rosebush or buy yourself some roses
Visit an arboretum or large gardens
Burn a candle for those who died unjustly
Volunteer with organizations that clean and restore forgotten places – graveyards, empty plots of land, etc.
Go swimming in natural bodies of water at night (be safe)
Offer a few coins/dollars to those who need it
Wear floral or fruity scents
Spend time outside in the winter too
Stand up for the abused
Go dance in or enjoy the next rainstorm
Don’t be afraid to defy stereotypes - if she can be the Spring Maiden and the Iron Queen, you can be anything
Add more flowers to your garden
Take a candlelit bath
Know how to win a fight in case you need to
Don’t let anyone tell you who you can and can’t love
PRACTICE LOVING YOURSELF
Many, many, many other things not said here
The BEST and ONLY RIGHT way to worship the GODS is
However you want as long as you’re respectful. Don’t feel obligated to perform daily elaborate rituals.
Sometimes it’s just as sweet to make a cup of tea and pour a little out to the god you want to have a quiet morning moment of prayer or conversation with.
There is so much joy and love to be found with the gods in the quiet spaces of your day.
Washing dishes and tidying up can be soothing and meditative if you devote it to Hestia. Caring for your plants can be a wonderful little devotional moment to Demeter, Persephone, even Artemis. Take a moment to stop in that little patch of sun streaming through your window and feel the love for Apollon swell through your chest. Instead of altars I’ve created little decorative nooks for the gods and if it involves a plant in that space I devote that plant to the god in charge of that little corner.
I hope everyone finds some small measure of peace while we distance ourselves from each other in the name of Aesclepius, and find time to think about the gods now and again. However much you worship is enough. Everything you do is enough. Your love and devotion to the gods is enough.
^
Very important note right here. Gotta remember this one
I planted some cress in a dunnock eggshell, as an offering to Persephone. Life coming from life, the seed in the egg, two symbols of birth upon the sigil I use for her. I charged it with pink salt and an amethyst pendant. I watered it with moon water. It feels delicate, and intensely magical.
I would recommend using any empty shells you find to cultivate some plant life, however small. Since I have been tending to this spell, the weather has been perfect where I live. It is a lovely sprig of hope.

Taking note of this.
Ok folks, time to think about why intent spells and tea spells don't work. Read through before you immediately drop into the comments to chew me out.
Magic is the manipulation of energy. Whoever you talk to, that's the most basic, shaved down, boiled down definition. There is energy somewhere, you are putting that energy elsewhere to do something.
Think about the spell you're doing with just your intent. Think about how much energy is going into that. It just you- just your brain, the synapses of your intent flashing through your head and gone in an instant. There's more energy going through your lightbulb at that point, and so your spell will not contain enough energy to actually do anything. This is why gamblers don't win games of blackjack by hoping for it. This is why wishes on stars don't usually come true.
The same thing applies to cups of tea. It's just the barest essence of a dried plant, watered down and maybe with some intent included. This isn't a lot of energy, it will not do a lot.
If you do a spell with lots of powerful, energy laden things, you have more energy to work with and you will be more successful as a result.
I'm also not gonna discount more experienced witches doing more spell work with less shit, but a 20 year long practice will give you far more sensitivity to that energy, more practice using energy without wasting it, more spirits/gods/etc. Helping you, and probably more power from various spells conducting over the years. A witch who has no fucking clue what they're doing and has been doing this for 2 months will likely not have this.
Decolonize Witchcraft and Spirituality!
That means:
Respect closed practices! Either go through the proper channels to be initiated or leave them alone!
Respect indigenous and diasporic cultural traditions! Many of these cultures were nearly wiped out by colonization. Respect the boundaries of what you can and can’t practice as an outsider.
Purchase crystals from reputable sources! Some crystals are mined unethically and through minimally-paid or slave labor.
Stop supporting shops and authors who appropriate from closed cultures! It should be obvious, but don’t buy dreamcatchers from a non-Native person and avoid metaphysical authors who perpetuate racist stereotypes about marginalized religions and magical traditions.
Listen to and prioritize witches of color/practitioners of color in dialogues about racism, cultural appropriation, and exotification in the magical communities.
Examine your own craft and see if you are unintentionally appropriating any cultures
Educate yourself on practices outside of your own so you don’t unintentionally invalidate or appropriation marginalized religions and spiritual practices.
Gonna keep note of this one..

This video and channel are really good if your not that great with mediation (Like me)! I’m usually have a hard time visualizing and focusing on what’s happening but this still worked well.
21 Day Newbie Devotee Challenge!
Are you just starting a relationship with a deity? Or have you been working with a deity for a while, but feel as though you’re stuck in a rut? Or do you just want to take the time to research your deity a little bit more? Despite being called the “Newbie” Devotee Challenge, this challenge is perfect for both beginners and well-seasoned devotees! This challenge is perfect for helping you reflect on both your deity, and your practice.
Tag all posts with “newbie devotee challenge” so we can all see your hard work! And please reblog this post if you plan on doing this challenge!
Day 1: Name the deity you will be working with for the remainder of this challenge. Give a quick overview of your relationship with that deity.
Day 2: What initially drew you to that deity? (Did they call you? Did you call them? How did you discover their identity? Etc.)
Day 3: Does your deity have any alternate names or epithets? If they do, what are they, and what do they mean? What does the name you call your deity mean?
Day 4: What symbols/animals/plants/etc. are associated with your deity? Start out by listing the ones that you know. Then, do a little research to see if you can find more. In a separate list on the same post, list those ones, too. Make note of which ones you think fit and don’t fit your deity.
Day 5: Describe your favorite story/myth that involves your deity. Discuss why this one is your favorite, and if this story/myth somehow influences your practice.
Day 6: Describe your least favorite story/myth that involves your deity. Why is it your least favorite? (Is it because it shows a different aspect of your deity that you don’t see often?) Try to turn that negative into a positive, and use this as a learning experience.
Day 7: Discuss your UPG for your deity. What inspired those UPG? Afterwards, do a little research and try to find other popular UPG. Do you agree or disagree with that UPG, and why?
Day 8: Describe what you have placed on your altar for this deity. If you don’t have an altar yet, discuss what you would put on the altar if you had one. Is there anything “missing” on your altar/are there items you wish you could add? What are they, and why do you want to add them?
Day 9: Discuss your daily/weekly/monthly/etc. worship “schedule.” What do you do for your deity? What offerings do you give? How often do you pray? And so on. Are you happy with how much/little time you give your deity? If not, what could you do to change that?
Day 10: What method(s) do you usually use to contact your deity? (Tarot, godphone, etc.) Why do you like using that method?
I’m so gonna join this at some point!

Offerings & Devotions | Persephone 🌺🦇
Offerings | 🌰
Any kind of flowers/plants
Pomegranates or related items/foods
Bones, bones, bones! (Note: remember to honor the animal that once carried them)
Tarot cards/decks you associate with her
Nuts & seeds! I love giving her hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, and pumpkin seeds. (Note: do not eat food you offer to her!)
It can be as simple as offering Persephone small fruits like plums, peaches, guayabas, cherries, strawberries, and quenepas.
Anything to do with grains! Bread, pasta, oatmeal, breakfast cereals, tortillas, and grits.
Anything mint related like food, a mint plant, or perfume or gum!
Jewelry! I plan on offering her a tiara/crown
Honey in general is a popular offering for her (any deity tbh)
Lemon-y foods
Poetry/Hymns
Candles that smell of flowers or fruits
Herbs, dried flowers/plants, fruit seeds/pits
Crystals that makes you think of her! Angel aura quartz, rose quartz, agate, & opalite screams her name to me!
Drink wise (pour the drink down the sink/outside once you’ve offered), honey & milk, coffee, hot chocolate, water.
Bat, ram, and deer related items/imagery
Devotions | 🍄
Raise some plants! Take care of plants! Sing to plants! Give all your love to plants!!!! Name them too. (‘: (grow some mint maybe!)
Sing her songs that you associate with her! Or hum the songs! I usually hum “Charon’s Crossing” by Beats Antique because it reminds me of her and I love the idea of Persephone and Kharon being buds.
Muse about your past lives with her (if you believe in the concept)! She is the goddess of reincarnation, so no doubt she’s seen you as many different humans/creatures and loves you all the same.
Celebrate Ostara and Imbolc wth her!
Also honor Persephone during Samhain as she returns to the underworld and Haides.
Walk barefoot in forests/fields (be careful tho of glass and stuff)
Contact some Nymphs and begin working with them since Persephone surrounded herself with them a lot! A UPG of mines is that Persephone is the matron of the elven & fae folk as well hehe
Preform bath rituals in her name. Add some flower petals for a nice touch and as an offering to her!
Ask if she wants to cast a spell with you! You both can work together to cast the spell and hang out. Don’t forget to thank her!
Visit a graveyard and clean up, maybe offer the dead some food like nuts, small cakes, fruits, etc. place out some coins too!
Contact her through bone divination! Or take some flowers and do the “they love me/they loves me not” form of divination with a yes/no question.
Read some poetry about her! There’s so many poetries written about her omehaidkeks so read them aloud to her. Also make one for her!
Make a playlist for her!
Set up a bird feeder outside during spring and summer!
Even simply studying her myths and who she is as a goddess is an act of devotion. So don’t overthink it! Do what feels right in regards of devotional acts towards her!
How to get closer | 🌱
Meditate upon her; channel your godphone and let her voice, touch, and thoughts embrace you. Listen to her & talk to her.
celebrate her associated sabbats with her in her honor. Pamper her and spoil her with lovely offerings (it doesn’t have to be expensive offerings! Give what you can, she will be happy no matter what it may be 🥰)
A lot of people who worship chthonic deities such as Persephone, practice spirit work as well. You don’t have to do this, but I see it as a form of becoming closer with her and understanding her more. I personally have not done this yet and probably won’t for awhile, but I think it would benefit the relationship.
If you are romantic with her (even if you aren’t romantic with her, these are very nice gestures), write love letters, bake her sweet treats with the intent of love and forming a stronger bond, leave a space open for her before you go to bed in case she would like to sleep beside you, ask her to accompany you every other day, muse about her.
Open yourself up to her. Show her your joy, sorrow, frustration, anger, etc. don’t hide them and do not be afraid to ask her for help. Tell her about your good or bad days, vent to her, ask for advice, show her every aspect of who you are. You do not have to be happy and serious all the time with her or any deity you devote to, darling.
🌸Persephone Offerings🌸
I am by no means an expert, this is just from my personal experience!
-roses, although any flowers would do this is what I prefer. You can pick the flowers yourself or you can get them really cheap at trader joes!
-wildflowers, especially during spring
-succulents
-gemstones, so far I've given her rose quartz but you can do any you feel is right
-spring or pomegranate related items
-a statue in her likeness, I got mine on amazon for very cheap given the quality ($20-30)
-the energy from your plants
-letters addressed to her
-things to remind her of hades ( I chose to give her three coins and some obsidian)
-candles or incense that have floral scents, I heard rose is one she likes a lot!
-lavendar!! She LOVES lavender
I hope this helps, if anyone has any tips feel free to share them with me in private or on this post, blessed be!
