Haven't gotten that far honestly. It is very difficult, at least for me. My biggest weakness(besides my inability to sight read, which has hampered all song-learning for years) is learning a song where the left and right hand has to move independently from each other in some manner. I work very well with predictable rhythms and time signatures, but Larkin clearly doesn't want to do that. My hands naturally want to follow each other in a specific pattern. The songs I played as a kid I performed well because I always had difficulty reading notes, and my methods skewed heavily towards just memorizing the song like a reflex, to the point where if I got distracted in the middle of a piece, I'd be UNABLE to continue because my conscious mind doesn't keep the notes in there; at that point, playing a song is the equivalent to touch typing. My body just does it.

Widow is in 4/4 times(I think. I don't have the sheet in front of me due to being away from home) so theoretically that shouldn't be too difficult, but it being composed originally for a string quintet means this transcription is trying to integrate all the little flourishes into a single instrument played with two hands. My absolute favorite part of Widow is the post key-shift violin countermelody that is passed from the first and second violin and back to the first upon its conclusion. That's not easy to do when you're also trying to play...everything else.

Fascinating to see that people remember it exists, considering how little I talk about it.

Very well. I am still in the process of creating the Obsidian masterdoc, redoing the entire Lady Repentant outline, and typing up some short stories for Layer 1. I am also learning Godot through a course that is also going very well. I find I actually do enjoy coding, though art will always be the choke point with anything I do.

The project is extremely complex so I'm determined to keep things as organized as possible. The outline of HML itself is due to be completely redone as well, but that'll be after LR's outline is polished enough to begin it proper. Having the freedom of not having to work with a publisher and instead doing whatever crazy bullshit I want has really expanded my scope(as usual) and I'm having a great time.

The most important goal for me is creating an initial prototype for the "gameplay" of the novel. Basically just making sure linking passages works, that basic puzzles can be created and initialized, and that I have a framework for organization and navigation of the many, many text files that will compose the majority of the program. I have nearly everything typed up in markdown now, which means importing them into a visual environment will be easier than using a standard pdf or word document or whatever.

At the moment, having to swap between so many different writing styles for so many different characters, especially now with all the ao3 work tossed in the loop, is the most difficult part. But suffering builds character.
