seeing stars made me curious- how would Marc respond if someone had actually seen Jin downtown drunk and raped her? if she was somehow able to find out who did it? i can’t imagine she would have loved someone else raping her outside of her supervision with how careful and meticulous she is about all of it. would she have sought to punish the rapist, or Jin? or both?
Mariam would do as much as she possibly could to help, but as with all things out of her control, she finds ways to manipulate events to her favor. She is in very close contact with the town's police department and would push hard for the culprit's prosecution. She would be quite possibly the strongest supporter any victim could ask for, and she would use that established trust to ensure Jin stays under her thumb.
There may not be overt punishment, but she certainly would tighten up restrictions on Jin's movement. Curfews, dress code, schedule, range, all those have limits under the guise of keeping Jin safe, but as time goes on the lead tightens with promises of loosening after good behavior. Of course, it rarely does.
All these rules Jin can technically break if she wants, but in the same way she could technically buy a plane ticket and fly home to fully escape. Mariam will not say anything in particular to cast guilt onto Jin for the assault, preferring to be more subtle, such as offering to go with her downtown at all times, or being more stringent on curfew.
During scenes, where she has the benefit of the doubt, it may be a different story. Marc frequently says and does things Jin is uncomfortable with, using the fact that it's a bdsm "session" as a shield. She takes advantage of Jin's shame and reluctance to communicate, allowing it to bloom into full on fear of saying no to anything. Of course, since outside of the Den Mariam insists on open communication and Jin's power in the relationship, Jin ends up believing she's just letting it all happen to her.
For your scenario, Marc might bring it up during a session in which Jin is sufficiently fucked up on substances as a way to mock or degrade her for the assault. If Jin even remembers it happening, she would agonize over whether or not that's something Mariam really believes or if it's just something for a scene. Even if she asks directly, she'd get what she always gets: of course not, it's just for fun, if you don't like it I won't do it, why didn't you tell me in the moment if you didn't want it, do you really think I'm that cruel to you in real life? And the guilt would eat her alive, so she doesn't.
Jin is kept in a constant state of believing both that Mariam has a specific play personality that she is accepting in order to be intimate with her, that the punishments are just make believe and she could stop them at any time if she REALLY wanted to, and believing that she has genuinely done something wrong to upset her and that any of the torments inflicted on her are a result of her own actions.
