It’s like you love someone so much one day and then the next day they hate you. They claim they love you but, who hurts someone they love? They claim they hate to see you cry but cause tears to escape your exhausted eyes. You think for a long time about why they would do something so cruel when you gave them your entire heart. There are mornings when you’ll wake up already pissed off at the world and some mornings when you wake up crying. It’s hard to know if you’ll ever be good enough but still, for them, you keep trying. When you love someone enough of course you believe in second chances, maybe even thirds, fourths, or fifths, even when you know in your heart it won’t work. You want to believe they change so you just stop looking for things that make them wrong. You stop wondering about what they are doing. You are just thankful it’s back. Your life, your love, your everything, is finally back. You feel on top of the world. And even though what they did still lingers behind your eyes you trust that a mistake can be corrected after one time. Until the next time… And then you cry and cry and cry and you still wonder why you’ll never be good enough. You spend what feels like hours looking in the mirror trying to find the person you once loved. You don’t recognize yourself because all you see is pain. Your eyes are sunken and your hair is in a mess. But, is love really supposed to drain you? Are you really supposed to feel this much pain? So, you leave and they find someone new to taunt and torment but in your eyes and in everyone else’s they treat this person like gold. It makes you sick and even though you know you’re better off a part of you still would rather die. But they hurt the next one and the next one and you’re still looking in from the outside….high off of pain. -Kiersten Emmaly
