The Xanthe and Anakin similarities occurred to me during a nap. Palpatine exploits Xanthe's relationship with Plagueis just like he exploits Anakin's relationship with Padme, albeit in different ways. He capitalizes on Anakin's fear of Padme dying, and presents himself as a "savior"/solution, someone that Anakin can depend on. And eventually, Anakin is solely dependent on him. Years before, he capitalizes on the complicated parental relationship between Xanthe and Plagueis, stoking her hatred until she's willing to rebel against him. Again, he's a "savior;" she has no choice but to be eternally grateful for being "saved" from the fate Plagueis planned for her. And then there's the fact that they're both former slaves who keep finding themselves serving increasingly worse people, and riddled with self worth issues/vulnerabilities. Ripe opportunities that Palpatine just couldn't resist taking for himself ✍️🔥🔥
