Hewwo?

Rumination is probably the most common type of OCD compulsion, but I rarely see anyone talking about it. I've talked to multiple people diagnosed with OCD who didn't even recognize it as a compulsion.

Basically, if you have OCD you have terrible intrusive thoughts. They can be about anything, but common themes are fear of being a bad person, fear of hurting someone, fear of contamination. etc.

Rumination is when you get stuck in a spiral. Rumination is when you spend hours catastrophizing, overthinking, analyzing, telling yourself it's going to be okay.

I'll say it again:

Rumination is a compulsion.

Rumination is a compulsion, and that means you have to stop doing it.

I did ERP (exposure response prevention) for my OCD with a therapist! For 9 months! And it did help, but the idea didn't really click until I found this website a couple years later.

And Oh My God. It made things make so much more sense, and I was able to pull myself out of an episode even though I wasn't in therapy or on meds at the time.

Genuinely if you have OCD, or even if you suspect you have OCD, I'm begging you to read some of these articles.

Reddington’s Warehouse

Out of breath, Scully collapses next to Mulder. It’s strange to think about all that has transpired between them sexually. In fact, she’s lost count of how many orgasms she’s had tonight. More than she’s ever had before in one night, that’s for sure.

She is already anticipating the next scene with trepidation. What will Reddington do with them now? Will it be another humiliation? The uncertainty makes her feel vulnerable and a bit insecure. Mulder must be feeling the same way.

“I’m afraid to think about what Reddington has in store for us next,” she admits.

“God, I know. This really isn’t how I pictured our first time,” Mulder blurts out. He winces immediately, like he is afraid he has just ruined the moment.

“Me either," Scully says quietly. By his facial expression, she can tell her answer seems to have surprised him.

“You've really thought about it?" It’s one of the rare occasions in his life where he sounds skeptical.

“Well, yeah,” Scully pauses, faltering with her words. She hadn’t planned on admitting it to him, but it's only fair given his admission of the same. "I'll admit it's crossed my mind a time or two."

"Just a time or two, though, huh?” Mulder asks softly.

She feels her cheeks grow hot, and she hides her face in his shoulder. Nearly lost against his skin, she mumbles, “Shut up, Mulder.”
