“Well I’m thinking of opening a little cafe, gotta wait until I’m moved in properly though.” “Can I -uhhh ask you a question?” She nervously fiddled with her belt.

“If you don’t want to answer it’s fine, its kinda a silly question.” Dinah laughed nervously.

“I was askin’ cuz I was thinkin’ ‘bout it one day but I don’t think Greaseball would want one.” She shrugged, “I’d be too busy with the cafe anyhow.”

She looked up again. “ Oh, nonsense. I’m sure GB does - Have you asked him ? “

“Although I have implied that I was thinking bout’ it.”

" Just let him know real easy, yknow ? Don't make a big fuss, not that I'm implying you would - " Pearl shook her head.

" Are you sure ? " The coach asked carefully. " You think Electra will be alright with that ? " Pearl kind of doubted it.

“Only if you want to, of course. My question is, would Rusty be alright with it?” He giggled slightly, his tone slightly teasing.

The coach wasn't very familiar with purse, only having seen him a few times at the race earlier that year. But she'd like to get to know him, he seemed like a very sweet train.

“So how have you been lately, Pearl?” He asked, closing the door and letting go of her hand. “I haven’t seen much of you since you stayed with us during the races.”

“ How about you ? “ She inquired.

He frowned slightly as he noticed something. “Your hair’s all tangled... come here darling, let’s fix that.” He skated over to his dressing table and picked up a brush, before returning to Pearl and guiding her over to his bed. “Sit down, I’ll get those tangles out for you. Can’t have such pretty hair as yours looking messy.”

Though she certainly preffered a luxurious lifestyle, Pearl was quite content with where she was in life now, glamourous living or not. She was a little bit materialistic, she had to admit, but she was working on bettering herself and looking past those things. Starlight knows it caused some trouble back at the races.

He gently pulled the observation car’s pink hair out of it’s ponytail, starting to brush out the worst tangles. “You’ve got beautiful hair.” He commented softly. “You’re first class, aren’t you? I’m surprised you’re living at such a humble yard.. and coupled with Rusty.” His words were completely innocent, it didn’t occur to him how insensitive he might sound.

She couldn't think of what else to say, not wanting to cause tension. Pearl was sure Purse didn't actually mean what he implied. " I've never been happier than I have been with him. "

He smiled slightly at her next comment. “It’s nice to hear you’re happy with him. I’m sorry things didn’t work out with my engine.. I thought maybe you two would work out. You and Rusty do seem more compatible though.”

“ I know you didn’t mean it. “ Pearl smiled. “ And thank you - “ She let out a small laugh. “ Though I think Electra and I wouldn’t ever have worked out. “ The coach shook her head.

He chuckled softly, starting to carefully tease Pearl’s hair into light, fluffy curls. “Neither did Volta. She would’ve made sure of it, if I’m honest, she’s very devoted to being coupled with Electra.” He continued fluffing out the observation car’s curls, being as gentle as he could. “And you and Rusty do seem right together. It’s nice that everything worked out in the end.”

She was honestly very glad things were fine in the end, but there was so much she regretted about what she did. Pearl wished she could go back, she'd most certainly do things differently.

He paused for a moment, thinking of something else that would be reassuring. “Did you know there’s a story about the Starlight Express, very similar to your dilemna at the races?” He asked, setting the brush down and carefully tying Pearl’s hair back into a ponytail. He picked up his mirror, offering it to her to check his work.

" No, I don't. " Pearl replied. " What is it ? " She inquired, shifting from side to side. She took the mirror into her hand, but didn't use it, too interested in hearing what Purse had to say.

Purse smiled and glanced over to Pearl. “Granted, you can’t put Electra in the stars, and I wouldn’t want you to either,” He giggled softly. “But the point is more that even deities can struggle to make choices, so you shouldn’t be mad at yourself.”

" Thank you, Purse - that did make me feel better. " She chirped. Though she wasn't fully over it yet, she appreciated what he'd done and did take the words to heart.

“Would you like a drink of anything?” He asked, “Or something to eat? Our kitchen’s fully stocked, I’m sure we have something you might like.”

" You did a wonderful job ! But, I'm sure you must get a lot of practice. " Pearl chuckled.

He reluctantly put down his mirror, looking over at Pearl again. “I’ll probably go get myself some tea, if you don’t mind. I could do with something warm to drink.”

She nodded when Purse mentioned going to get himself something to drink, going back to touching her hair. It was a little bit of a habit of hers.

He returned a few minutes later with a cup of tea, his face now its usual colour again. “It’s just occurred to me: I’ve offered for you to stay the night, but you don’t have any sleepwear.. you could borrow something from one of the girls if you’d like.”

" And, since we're on the topic, where will I sleep ? " She asked, tilting her head a little.

Purse wasn’t sure if that was too forward an offer. Pearl was a couple coach after all, and it was like she and him were best friends or anything; they hadn’t spoken very much before, despite how much Purse hoped they could be friends.

" I'm definitely okay with staying here with you, if you are ? " She said, sitting back a little. " If not - I can stay here 'til we decide we need to sleep. I think I can find my own bed on my own.. " The coach suggested, still smiling.

He took another sip of his tea, skating forward and also sitting on the bed. “D’you fancy a film maybe? Or would you prefer to just sit and chat?” He asked, crossing his legs.

She wiggled a little, getting comfortable on the bed. " What do you have ? " She asked, referring to the selection of the movie.

" I really like love stories.. Especially ones with a happy ending. Like a wedding ! Oh, I love weddings ! ... "
