AUGUSTUS WATERS

                               ❛      a  million  ?         i  think  that’s  a  LITTLE   unfair  miss  montez.       ❜                   he  jabs  a  finger  into  her  side  playfully  &  smirks.                  ❛    nah.        the  pain  is  manageable.               ‘ you  get  what  you  get  &  you  don’t  pitch  a  fit ‘ ----------------------  or  so  sayeth  the  plaque  in  my  house.   ❜

                                            ❛     an  IDEALIST  huh  ?     ❜                    he  crosses  his  arms  as  he  thinks  &  then  smirks.                       ❛      but  then  you  come  off  as  BOSSY  --  &  no  one  likes  a  bossy  person  right  ?      ❜                     he  leans  towards  her  a  bit  ;  always  did  have  a  problem  with  personal  space.                    ❛     a  clever  person  would  know  how  to  get  things  done  &  not  be  bossy.         --------------------------have  you  mastered  the  art  ?     ❜

                                             ❛   i  owe  you  ?               we’ll  see.   ❜                           augustus  smiles  &  leans  his  elbow  upon  the  table,                  head  resting  in  his  hand.                   he  smiles  a  bit  at  her  OPTIMISM.                 ❛      it’s  pretty  cool.       --------------------------pun  intended.    ❜                      he  laughs  at  himself  before  making  a  little  face.                   ❛     so  before  i  got  my  leg  hacked  off,                the  cold  made  my  bones  ache  really  bad  so  it  always  sucked  --------------------  not  that  it  sucks  any  less  now.                   but  there’s  LESS  of  it  to  hurt  so  i  guess  that’s  the  benefit  ?    ❜                  he  gives  a  crooked  smile,                    trying  to  show  her  it  was  okay  to  talk  about  his  leglessness  without  it  being  some  sore  spot.                    god  knows  he  teased  isaac   ---  it  was  about  time  someone  teased  him. 

                                ❛    you  LOOK  like  the  type  to  write  it.              though  i’ve  found  most  people  who  READ  poetry  also  WRITE  poetry.              can’t  have  one  without  the  other.    ❜                       he  smirks  a  bit  &  takes  the  cigarette  from  his  mouth,        dangling  it  in  his  hand  for  a  minute.             ❛      do  you  get  the  metaphor  ?     ❜     he  asks,     expectantly.   

                           ❛       then  YOU  are  exactly  what  i  need.             between  cancer  &  this  school  i  feel  LIFELESS  -----------  maybe  you  can  soread  something  good  back  into  me  with  all  that  JOY  you  have  to  spare.    ❜                     he  grins  &  sits  beside  her,               thankful  to  be  off  his  leg.                 ❛    this  is  nothin’.           wait  till  the  winter.            you’ll  never  want  to  leave  bed  in  the  morning.     ❜    

                                      ❛   NO WORRIES  --  i  never  light  them.                 it’s  a  metaphor.      ❜                      he  smiles  wryly  &  chuckles  at  her  enthusiasm,                crossing  his  arms  as  he  shifts  his  weight  onto  his  good  leg.                     ❛   i  think  the  REAL  question  here  is  whether  you  WRITE  poetry.    ❜

                                       ❛      i’m  really  a  pain  in  the  ass  --  you’ll  see.                my  charm  is  just  FALSE  OPTIMISM.      ❜                     augustus  grins  over  at  the  other  before  popping  an  unlit  cigarette  into  his  mouth,                    letting  it  dangle  from  the  corner  lazily.                   ❛      maybe  if  i  write  you  poetry  about  the  light  in  your  hair  or  some  sappy  crap  you’ll  get  it  --  unless  you  LIKE  poetry.                then  we’ll  have  something  in  common.      ❜  //  @falseperfection

                                            ❛       ah  !               she  has  wit.                 refreshing  --  this  place  will  drain  the  joy  out  of  you,       ❜                            he  laughs  at  her  ability  to  shoot  his  own  joke  back  at  him  ;  crooked  grin  become  a  goofy  one  that  stretched  too  big  for  his  face.                    ❛    nice  to  meet  you  gabriella,    ❜                     he  hums,                  holding  her  hand  for  a  moment  too  long  before  releasing  her  to  lean  on  the  table.                   ❛    where  are  you  from  ?    ❜
