X. Wheel of Fortune

“Huh...” Kalim hummed, crossing his arms over his chest. “If we’re going based off of looks alone....” 

“Trey.” He started, and didn’t explain as if the name said enough. “Floyd and Jade kinda too, you know? They have very handsome faces. Their eyes are cool too.” 

“Silver....” He flushes a bit at that one but quickly moves on. “Jack is kind of pretty for a first year too, huh?” He laughs and waves his hand, waving his former embarrassment off. “Hmmm...No one in pomefiore or ignihyde is really my type but you can’t argue the fact that Vil is very pretty. And Idia’s hair is cool - or hot? One of those in a positive meaning.” Nod nod. 

“But looks and personality....still Trey,” He laughs, “And Silver are probably the two at the top. The twins are on thin fucking ice. I don’t really know Jack enough to say. And no offense to him, but Vil scares me. Then Idia isn’t really my type but I’d love to be his friend one day.” 

“It’s true!” Kalim pleaded, keeping his hands in a defensive position. He had already told his servants to stand down, but some of them have their hands inching back to their weapons as the resistance fighters around them become more aggressive at the tone of their leader. “Hey, Hey! Don’t!” Kalim at them to keep their hands away from their weapons before turning back to Kokomi.

“I’m here to offer supplies to the resistance! That’s all, really!”

“I’m the oasis maker from Sumeru, Kalim Al-Asim.” He drops his hands to put one over his chest, as if swearing over his heart. “I’m also the heir to the Asim family, the richest in all of Sumeru and most of Teyvat itself. I can afford to leave some supplies here free of charge. You can inspect our boat yourself, all I have is clothes, food, and hygeine materials for the resistance - oh and some basic weapons - but those for you I swear! I figured you guys could use some more, or something.” He grins sheepishly, scratching at his cheek. 

“If it helps at all, I’m completely on the resistance’s side in this civil war.” Kalim, explained, dropping his hands to his side. “If I were able, I’d even join you in battle! But I can’t afford to do such a thing, nor can I ask it of my servants to do so in my stead. As a leader, surely you can understand my status and that my hands are tied in this situation, and this is all I can manage to help.” 

   An  exception  ?  Kalluto  wasn’t  used  to  being  considered  an  exception  in  anything.  A  moment  passed  and  then  the  assassin  slowly  nodded  to  show  he  understood  what  was  being  said.  “  I  see.  No  one  outside  the  dorm.  “

   Kalim  was  interested  in  origami  ?  He’d  never  bothered  mentioning  such  a  talent  to  his  family.  Origami  wasn’t  a  skill  that  assassins  needed  to  have.  “  Okay.  “  Kalluto  nods  at  the  question  of  teaching  the  older  boy  some  of  his  craft.  He  didn’t  mind.  It  might  be  nice  to  teach  someone  something.  Even  if  it  seemed  that  Kalim  was  simply  trying  to  escape  something.  What  ?  Kalluto  didn’t  ask.  It  wasn’t  his  business.  

   “  Your  room  might  be  better.  We  won’t  have  to  worry  about  someone  ruining  the  paper  or  distracting.  One  has  to  be  gentle  with  origami  and  focused  ,  since  it’s  all  folding.  “  Is  there  an  animal  you  wish  to  start  with  ?  A  fox  or  bird  or  butterfly  might  be  best  to  teach  first.  “  

“Oh! You're right.” Kalim chuckled and easily starts making his way towards his room. After making sure that Kalluto was following him, he started to text Jamil about the food. No need to go overboard tonight, at least. He just wanted something warm and comforting. Hopefully Kalluto would like it too. 

Then he put his phone away in his pocket and looked down at Kalluto. “A bird would be cool! I love birds. Like the bird that was the Sorcerer of Sand’s trusty partner. I’ve always wanted one.” Fingers idly mess with the feathers attached to his half turban before they reached his room. He easily opens the double doors, letting Kalluto in before closing them behind the both of them. Thankfully, Kalim had a desk set up near the open windows, but he moves it just slightly so it’s more blocked by the walls. “Don’t want the wind blowing up the papers either!” Thankfully the desk was a small and low one, making it easier for him to push around.

“You’re going to love this Kalluto!” Kalim said with a huge smile, holding onto the younger’s hand as they walked through the bazaar. “The fireworks are going to be amazing! And if you want anything here just let me know, my family had to organize everything so you’re welcome to any kind of food or souvenir, okay?”

   The  assassin  tilted  his  head  upwards  ,  watching  the  smile  on  Kalim’s  face  as  he  was  being  led  around  the  bazaar.  It  seemed  Kalim  was  at  least  somewhat  genuinely  happy  about  this.  Then  it  was  worth  noting  ,  a  decision  he  made  as  he  glanced  around.  “  Fireworks… “  He  gave  a  small  nod.  He  was  familiar  with  the  offers  Kalim  made  ,  though  he’d  never  formally  made  any  request.  Any  gains  had  simply  been  by  Kalim  seeing  him  stare  longer  at  something.

   "  Does  your  family  often  do  organizations  like  this  ?  “  It  was  a  sudden  ,  rare  question  from  Kalluto  as  he  looked  around.  Festivities  were  something  rare  back  home  ,  he  was  curious  if  this  was a   custom  for  Kalim.

“The rich families of Agrabah take turns with this particular event! It just happens to be my family’s turn this year, and we’re going to make it into something unforgettable.” He said, throwing his arms out wide before jogging ahead a little bit to look at a certain stall, it seemed to be full of different fabrics and clothing.

“Y-You did all of this?” Kalim blinked, looking at the venue for his latest ‘party’ in liyue and how it was decorated from top to bottom in both liyue and sumeru adornments. He had told his own servants and retainers to do it - yet Ganyu had somehow convinced all of them to let her do it. “It’s amazing!!” Kalim turns to her with a bright smile and a laugh. He easily reaches forward, arms decorated in sumeru traditional jewelry, wearing the finest silks Teyvat had to offer. He reaches out in this fancy garb and hugs the other, picking her up and spinning her around. “You’re amazing, Ganyu! Thank you thank you thank you!” [ GRATITUDE ]

[ GRATITUDE ] - overwhelmed with gratitude, sender pulls receiver in for a hug to express how thankful they are.

Ganyu   indeed   took   it   upon   herself   to   complete   the   workload.      It’s   not   that   she   disliked   help   or   thought   Kalim’s      servants   were   incompetent.

   It   just   didn’t   feel   right   to   have   them   do   manual   labor   when   they   were   technically   guests   too.         Besides   for   an   Adepti.      half   or   not      —         she   could   get   it   all   done   much   faster.            

“It   wasn’t   any   trouble   at   all   …   I’m   just   glad   you   like   it.         If   there’s   anything   else   you   need   I–”            

words   were   cut   off   by   arms   wrapping   around   her   even   her   feet   were   lifted   from   the   ground.   Causing   a   SQUEAK   to   leave   rosy   lips.      

It   was   rare   for   anyone   to   hug   her      ….      with   most   people   she   held   a   professional   relationship      …   so   of   course   none   would   attempt   her….      let   alone   give   her   such   an   enthusiastic   embrace.      It   left   her   red   faced   and   lost   for   words   .               “A-Ah   …..   Iw   as…      j-just   doing   my   job”

“Well the job you did was amazing!” He laughs happily as he still holds her above the ground. He holds her with ease, showing he was far stronger than he looked. His endless and bright smile also showed the gratitude was genuine, 

Eventually he does place her back on the ground, but the hug is tightened for a single moment before he lets go of her waist. Ever the one to invade personal space, though, his hands just find new purchase on her shoulders as he shakes the other alittle. “Like, look at all of that! The Sumeru parts are done perfectly, it’s almost like I’m back home! And what you chose for the Liyue decorations match so well! You definitely have an eye for this kind of thing, my servants could learn a thing or two from you.”

It’s only praise that leaves his mouth for her. Flooding the room like a river looping in on itself again and again. Eventually, though, he gives her a break and lets her go, taking in the adornments of the room once again. He grins, throwing his arms out as he spun around - then fell back onto the pillows used for Sumeru seating. “Ah these are really good too.” He laughs softly, staying there for a moment.
