“When am I not drinking is the question my dear traveler.” Tiny hiccup from them.

     lumine lets out a huff as they watch the bard in front of them act like a smartass ( like usual , they aren’t entirely sure why they’re surprised at this point -- ) before they reach out & grab them by their collar .

Of all the stupid things Lumine had done, this was the worst. How did she even fall into the abyss? Not to mention one of the darkest depths of it. He was thankful she had been spared the other horrors that lurked in the darkness here, and the only adversary she faced as the empty void.

Well, and him.

He wasn’t down here because he was suddenly not her enemy, was suddenly not apart of the abyss order and everything Lumine had been fighting against. No, he’s down here out of some deep rooted sibling relationship that try as he might, he could not sever for over 300 years. No, he still wanted to be with her again, reunite properly and honestly. But before wasn’t the right time, and now wasn’t either. He would cut this meeting short, just like the last.

But first thing’s first.

“Lumine,” He breathed calmly, reaching out for her hand when she reached out for his. It was as if light touched his soul once more when their hands connected. But no, it would be too hopeful to say that the light returned to all of him just like that. As soon as he has a firm grip on her hand, a swirling blue portal appears beside them. With hesitation, he throws her through the portal.

Where the other side of the portal lead to was anyone’s guess - he just knew it wasn’t the abyss. When he steps through, and has the portal close behind him, he notices that they’re in inazuma. Either on a rainy day or in one of the areas that’s constantly in a storm. How fitting.

“I don’t mind you being reckless, but the abyss has horrors even I haven’t faced. You would do well not to fall into its clutches. I won’t save you a second time.” With that, he turns, eager to get this conversation over with.

     when their hands finally meet , lumine is overtaken by an oh - so familiar feeling of warmth ; to have her other half within her reach again makes the heaviness upon her shoulders disappear almost immediately . there’s a genuine smile upon her face as she instinctively reaches her other hand out in an attempt to bring herself to him in an embrace -- only to let out a surprised yelp as she’s thrown to the side , suddenly exposed to the unforgiving barrage of cold from inazuma’s storm .      hands clench into fists against the mud beneath her as lumine’s frame trembles ; they’re out of the abyss now , she realizes , yet that anxiety that weighed upon her heart doesn’t seem to go away . no , it only gets worse as she lifts her gaze & sees aether turning away from her , ready to disappear again . ready to leave her alone again . something within her seems to ignite as she frantically pushes herself up to her knees . she should’ve expected this outcome ( they’re enemies now , after all -- aren’t they ? ) but she can’t -- she just can’t let go .

     it’s ... dark . too dark . for a few moments , as lumine comes to , she can’t tell whether or not her eyelids are welded shut -- it’s only when her hand frantically lifts in front of her face that she can make out the faint outline & reassure herself that she’s awake . a huff resounds ( it’s almost drowned out by the sound between her ears of her anxiously beating heart -- ) & she lifts her head up to take in her surroundings . it’s dark for as far as she can see & , after a moment of staring in an attempt to adjust to it all , lumine pushes herself to her feet . where’s paimon ? she calls out for her , yet there’s no familiar response , no reassurance that she isn’t alone . where is she ?       cautiously taking a step forward , lumine watches as a small purple puddle spreads outward from each spot she places her foot down . is this the abyss ? the last thing she remembers is frantically running towards a portal & then -- this . how long was she unconscious for ? there’s a lump in her throat as the traveler forces herself to overcome the sudden overwhelming fear that wraps around her heart , taking step after careful step ( as though she’s afraid she’s going to fall off of an invisible ledge ) before she picks up her pace . there’s no time to doubt yourself right now , she thinks . you have to get out of here .      lumine can’t keep track of how long she’s been walking for before there’s an ever - so faint glimpse of light in the distance breaking through the black surrounding her ; the closer she becomes to it , the larger it gets , & she finds herself lifting a hand upwards to shield her eyes . is this an exit ? surely it must be , right ? yet the more she walks , the more she realizes that it’s something entirely different -- a person . someone that stands out against the dark like a beacon . someone that looks ... strangely familiar . someone that --      no , not just familiar . someone she knows . lumine would recognize that figure from anywhere . golden eyes lift in surprise as she raises her hand ever so slightly .
