If you want to know what destroys a fandom the fastest, itās HATE. Ā People who do their best to absolutely tear other people down, to shit on them, and then encourage other people to do the same thing.
When someone comes riding out on their morality high horse and calling out people for creating content that is perfectly legal and in no way harms anyone, that person is the one who should take a hard look in the mirror.
Since the very inception of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles there have been people writing/drawing mature content for the franchise. Ā This includes the creators themselves. Ā Do your damn homework ā the Mirage comics were full of adult content; it wasnāt actually intended for kiddos ā or for people whose minds are clearly too immature to handle the grown-up stuff.
The TMNT cursed, they killed ā and yes, guess what, they had sex. Ā Some of us grown-ups still prefer our TMNT this way.
And before you start screaming at the screen about incest and pedophilia ā do try and join the rest of us in the real world. Ā These are fictional anthropomorphic characters. Ā We can have them doing whatever the hell we want them to do because they ARE NOT REAL. Ā Their actions do not influence other people to do wicked things. Ā Not anyone with half a brain at least.
Stop being so frigginā jealous of other content creators that you feel compelled to try and tear them down. Ā Iām sorry you arenāt as gifted or talented, or are just too damn lazy to learn how to be creative in a way other people will enjoy.
The sign of someone who is riding around in a fog of shear envy is in how hard they work to spread their message of hate. Ā Iāve been in this fandom for years and let me tell you something I have observed.
An overwhelming percentage of the people who proclaim themselves to be antis are also producing āadultā content. Ā They disguise it by hiding it behind aphorisms like āmaking loveā or ācut to blackā so they arenāt writing/drawing explicit scenes. Ā
Their pairing of choice for the TMNT guys? Ā Themselves of course. Ā Female OCās and barely disguised self-inserts. Ā Hereās the mindset that sets off their tirade against the guys turning to each other ā āif the TMNT love each other, they canāt love meā.
Reality Check, aisle one! They canāt ālove youā because they arenāt real. Ā If you want to fantasize about having sex with them, go for it. Ā Just donāt jump on your soap box and start screaming at the world in general that itās your way or the highway. Ā Grow the frig up!
I have been around long enough to have seen every argument in the book against the adult content some of us enjoy creating. Ā Every argument is specious and ineffective because you are fighting about comic book characters. Ā How ridiculous is that?
The world is full of REAL horrors. Ā If you want to expend your energy for a cause, make it a REAL cause, something that will actually benefit other people. Ā I do volunteer work, quite a lot of it. Ā I give to several different charities on a regular basis.
I am out in the world making a difference, making life for others better and safer. Ā What are you doing with your time? Ā You are trying to tear people down, trying to incite mayhem, and engender destructive thinking.
