ACE 33: OASIS

Introducing Melinda Wang, the Executive Director of ACE 32: MUSE! She is currently a Junior in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Economics and minoring in Business Studies. A few last words from her before the show tonight!

“In September of 2012, I decided to apply and be a part of the Asian Cultural Expressions' 30th annual charity fashion show. Today I represent ACE as its 32nd Executive Producer. It truly has been a roller coaster ride, but no matter how hard school, work, or even life got in general, I could always go back to the one thing that gave me the most stress LOLS, but made me the most happy. I am truly proud of what this show has become over the last three decades and especially seeing this show in particular, MUSE, come to life over the past year. I would like to take the time to thank all our designers, corporate sponsors, catering, performers, and volunteers for all their generosity and time. To my entire board and all the beautiful models, thank you for being so patient with me and simply amazing. I seriously could not have done this show without them. Introducing our Assistant Directors for this years show, Jennifer Zhuang (left) and Karen Lee (right)!

Jennifer is currently a sophomore at the Stern School of Business studying Finance and Accounting. Karen is also a sophomore, majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Business Studies at the College of Arts and Sciences. Check out their Q&A’s below!

1. What is the art medium of your life (sports, music, dance)?      

Jen: Dance - but not many people know I can!

Karen: Music and writing; Painting when I have the time and resources to.

2. Who or what is your muse?       

Jen: Is it bad that I don't have one? If I had to give an answer, it would probably be my parents and my friends. 

Karen: The people I surround myself with. They all inspire me.

3. Give me three words to describe yourself.

Jen: Cute, short, Asian (this is usually how I am described)

Karen: Curious, spontaneous, minimalist.

4. Two recommendations for what to do in NYC?               

Jen: Try new foods and when you have time, try walking to places instead of taking the subway - walking at night is when you truly get to see the unique "City that Never Sleeps" (and walk off those calories from all the food you ate).

Karen: Go to Sleep No More – a modern, interactive adaptation of Macbeth; and take the backstage tour of the Met Opera House.

5. The soundtrack of your life?        

Jen: I don't have a life, so no soundtrack either.

Karen: Don’t have one, but I'm currently listening to Island by Primary & Ohhyuk.

6. What are you looking forward to the most tomorrow night during ACE?  

Jen: An amazing show with no hitches! The entire committee has put so much work into tomorrow night. The models are amazing, the looks are incredible, and the sponsors and performances will bound to impress all attendees! Look forward to it :)
