Zodyl is a little more lowkey. Fancy dinner on some rooftop restaurant that he’s made a reservation for months in advance. He buys a new outfit and accessories for her to wear the day of as part of the gift. Claims Valentine’s Day is a dumb consumer holiday yet he is over the top with his own gifts. Lmao. Zodyl honestly doesn’t really like recieving gifts. Doesn’t want his partner spending money on him, and will “begrudgingly accept” anything only to get mad if she threatens to return it.

Enjin is a wild card. If his girlfriend wants to do fancy dinner, he’ll do it, but honestly, he’s planned a chaotic day instead. Go Karting. Laser Tag. Arcade. Amusement park. Anything in that realm. Even wins his gf a stuffed animal at the crane games after spending too much money trying to get it to begin with. Any present he receives, he treats it like it’s worth a million dollars even if it’s cheap. Don’t let it be something homemade and he may cry lol

Bro is another sweet boyfriend who showers his gf with gifts. She wakes up to breakfast in bed and a bouquet of roses. In the morning, they do family friendly activities and lunch to include Dear and Guita. For dinner, Bro and his gf opt for a lowkey dinner at the izakaya they had their first date at. It’s not luxurious but intimate for them. As for gifts, Bro doesn’t care much about expensive things. He’s happy with most of the homemade stuff the kids make.

Corvus is planning a vacation for Valentine’s Day. It didn’t matter if they can only go for a weekend, he’s planning for them to leave Tokyo, whether that’s going to Sapporo to go to a ski resort or to the Caribbean to escape the cold. He doesn’t even tell his gf where they’re going until they’re already on the way to the airport. Corvus is another one who doesn’t really care for receiving gifts, but it’s merely because to him, his gf is the best gift

Tamsy goes with what his gf wants. He doesn’t want to come across as controlling, so she can literally ask for anything and he’ll do it lol. Because of how hard she works, he’ll gift her a spa day to get pampered and relax. But they actually do dinner at home and spend the evening cooking together rather than going out. Whenever he gets gifts, though, he’s pretty playful about it, the type to shake the box and spend more time trying to guess what’s inside than open it.

I mean, you hadn’t really talked about kids seriously. The one time you brought it up, just curious to know what he potentially thought of having kids, Enjin essentially told you that kids were clingy and needy. You never talked about it again after the fact.

Now, you wish you had, as anxiety had you slowly spiraling. What would he say? Would he be mad? Would he want the baby? Does he even want to be a dad?

“In four weeks, I want you to come back for a check-up, okay? I’ll let my grandmother know, and we can arrange for proper prenatal care. Take care for now and let me know if you need anything.”

The young girl hands you some papers with your tentative due date listed at the top: March 1st.

“Right…thank you…” You stand to leave, your body numb as you step into the hallway.

You somehow make it back to you and Enjin’s on muscle memory alone. He’s not there, so you can try to collect your thoughts and figure out how you’re going to tell him. Instead, you collapse on the bed and instantly pass out.

Enjin returns a couple of hours later from an assignment. It took longer than he would have liked because he got a flat tire, and he just wanted to catch some z’s and see how your doctor’s appointment had gone.

The light’s off in the room. Enjin sees you sprawled across the bed, some of the pillows having been kicked off and onto the floor. He smiled softly. He takes off his jacket and mask when he notices a folder on your nightstand. Curiously, Enjin opens it, a photo immediately falling out onto the floor.

“The hell is this?” Enjin mutters. When he picks up the photo and gets a good look, his heart immediately skips a beat.

It’s an ultrasound photo with a little arrow pointing to baby written on one of the pictures.

"No way..." Without thinking, Enjin shakes you awake. His roughness startles you, and you're still trying to blink the sleep out of your eyes when he bombards you with questions. "Is it true?"

"Is what true?" You yawn, slightly annoyed at being woken up.

"You're pregnant."

That snaps you out of your sleepy stupor. You realize Enjin's holding the ultrasound photo, staring at you with a rather unreadable expression.

"Um...yeah...I found out today."

Enjin slowly nods as if processing everything. You shift nervously. "Are we keeping it?" The way he asks sounds nervous.

"Um..." You swallow thickly. "I want to. Do you?"

"Yeah...I do..." He admits, and you sag with relief immediately. You throw yourself into his arms, Enjin wrapping them tightly around your waist. You hear him shakily exhale. "I'm really gonna be a dad."

Dad!Enjin who during your entire pregnancy is a bit of a yes man. He’s lowkey scared of doing something to piss you off, so he does or gets whatever you want without complaint

Dad!Enjin dad who during your bouts of morning sickness, sits up with you in the bathroom until it passes.

Enjin notices the bed is empty when he feels for you, only to find your side of the bed bare.

He’s semi-coherent and groggy, and nearly dozes off until he hears what sounds like you being sick. “Y/n?!”

Quickly, Enjin throws the cover off and nearly breaks his ankle trying to get out of the bed. He swears under his breath as he stubs his toe on the side of the dresser while he stumbles to the bathroom. There, he finds you hugging the toilet bowl as you wretch into it.

Enjin settles behind you, carefully pulling your hair out of the way and rubbing gentle circles on your back. It takes a few minutes before your stomach settles and you flush the toilet, still dry heaving.

“You okay?” Enjin whispers.

You shake your head, gripping the side of the toilet seat. You think you’re going to be sick again, your stomach still churning as you silently wish for any reprieve. Your husband continues to draw small circles on your back, holding your hair out of your face, until the nausea eventually passes.

When you thankfully don’t throw up the remainder of your dinner, you try to stand on shakily legs. Enjin helps bring you to the sink where you brush your teeth. You then just break down crying, hiding your face in Enjin’s chest.

“It’s alright, you big baby,” Enjin sighs. He picks you up and brings you back to the bedroom. You’re still sniffing as he tucks you back under the covers. He looks tired, which makes you feel even more guilty. “Do you need some water or- hey! Why’re you still crying!?”

“I’m sorry,” you babble, wiping your eyes. “I woke you up.”

“Y/n, it’s fine,” Enjin insists. “Just go back to sleep.”

Enjin lies next to you, absentmindedly tracing circles around your stomach until you fall asleep.

Dad!Enjin who stops smoking around you immediately after learning you’re pregnant. He won’t smoke within the hour of coming home

Dad!Enjin who is more sensitive about you wearing your mask in certain areas and makes a big fuss about you protecting yourself and the baby

“Enjin, we’re just going to Canvas Town,” you sigh, your irritation slowly growing the longer the argument continues. “We’ve been here a million times. The air is not bad enough to warrant a mask.”

“Don’t care. I’m not taking that chance.”

Groaning, you lean back against the car door, but no matter how much you pout, Enjin wouldn’t budge on his stance. By now, you had been arguing in circles for nearly fifteen minutes.

One thing that you hadn’t expected when you got pregnant was that your husband would become a major germaphobe.

At first, you found it somewhat comical. Enjin would be careful about smoking around you. He stopped smoking inside the base and would reprimand anyone else for doing the same. If you so much as came within the vicinity, he’s either going outside or putting the cigarette out altogether. You'd joke about him wasting his smokes, only for him to brush it off as not important. That you and the baby's health came first.

Then, the further you progressed through your trimester, Enjin wouldn’t come home for an hour just to ensure that there was no lingering smoke on his clothes. While you thought the sentiment was sweet, as weird as it sounded, you kinda started to miss the ashy smell.

Not to mention, he started to become weirdly insistent that you wear a mask all the time if you leave the base. Enjin wanted you to wear your full face at that. No matter how much you assured him that Alice said it was okay for you to be outside and the air wouldn’t harm the baby, as long as you didn’t go to any No Man’s Zones, it went in one ear and out the other.

“Just the other day, there was a major trash storm,” Enjin countered. “There could be lingering debris. You should put it on just to be safe.”

You cross your arms, firing back a glare. “Enjin, I’m not wearing the damn mask just to go shopping.”

“Then at least put on half of it.”

“No.”

He groans, resting his forehead on the steering wheel. “Y/n, please.” You ignore him, staring out the window with your arms still folded across your chest. Enjin exhales a sigh before looking back at you. He reaches across the console and places a gentle hand on your rounded belly.

“Look, I’m not trying to be controlling, and realistically, I know Canvas Town is safe. This is all so new to me, and I can’t help but be worried. I wouldn’t forgive myself if anything happened to you or our child. The guilt would eat me alive if I failed to protect you both.”

Eventually, you sigh. Though you could continue being stubborn about it, part of you was a bit touched by how concerned he was about your health. That, and you just want to do your shopping already. “Can we compromise with a cloth mask?”

His face scrunches. “Well…”

“Enjin.”

“Fine,” he grumbles under his breath. “Something is better than nothing.”

You shake your head, trying not to laugh. At least you could say you had a considerate husband.

Dad!Enjin who swears up and down he doesn’t care about the gender. Any attempt you make to get him to humor you gets shot down. But deep down, he’s really excited when you find out you’re expecting a little girl.

Dad!Enjin who got really excited feeling his daughter kick for the first time. It annoys you because he always tries to get her to move for him when you're trying to relax

Dad!Enjin who develops a habit of tracing his thumb over your stomach, even before you started showing. He’s still partially in disbelief that his child is growing there.

The two of you were cuddling in bed, having spent the day dozing off and on. As your due date drew closer, you had been put on bed rest, and your husband/warden ensured you followed the doctor’s instructions to a tee (much to your annoyance)

That particular day, your daughter had been fairly active. Her constant moving and kicking made it impossible for you to sleep comfortably. So while Enjin dozed, his arms wrapped around your waist and his head lying on the lower half of your stomach, you took up reading a book to pass the time.

The first time the baby kicked, Enjin shifted slightly. The next couple of times it happens, he grumbles under his breath, telling you to stop poking him, which makes you chuckle.

“Y/n…” Enjin groans. He groggily wakes, looking at you with a rather annoyed expression.

“What?” You laugh. “I’m not doing anything. Blame your daughter.”

“Hah?” Enjin looks up at you, resting his cheek on your belly. Your daughter then, at that moment, decides to kick. Though it’s somewhat uncomfortable, the surprised look on Enjin’s face was worth it. “She moves around quite often, doesn’t she?”

“Literally all the time.” You sigh, placing your bookmark in your book. “I’d prefer if she’d get her foot off of my bladder, though.”

Enjin quickly sits up, concern crossing his features. “Are you in pain?”

You shake your head. “No, just uncomfortable. You’re fine.”

After a brief hesitation, Enjin eventually eases back. He places both hands on either side of your swollen stomach before bending down to kiss your navel. “Stop causing your mama so much trouble, you brat.”

You laugh, especially because it seems like your daughter kicks Enjin in protest, making him frown. “Stop calling our daughter a brat.”

“She is a brat,” he huffs. A smile tugs at his lips as he gently traces circles on your stomach with his thumbs. “I can’t wait to meet her, though.”

A smile softens across your face. “She’ll have you wrapped around her little finger, won’t she?”

“As if.” Enjin lied right through his teeth.

Dad!Enjin who tries to act like he’s calm and collected when you go into labor, but actually is internally freaking out

Dad!Enjin who becomes extremely protective the day you go into labor. He doesn’t want anyone around when you’re in such a vulnerable state, and is firmly against anyone else being in the delivery room

Dad!Enjin who adamantly swears up and down he is not in fact crying when he holds his daughter for the first time

“Fuck this shit sucks-“ You groan as another contraction hits you. Enjin snickers under his breath as you squeeze his hand. “Shut up, you asshole. This is all your fault.”

Enjin rolls his eyes. “Right. Blame it on me.”

“She didn’t make the baby by herself, so the fault does lie partially with you,” quips Alice, who, despite her antics, had honestly been a saint through the entire process. You had been laboring for hours, and when the husband inevitably fell asleep from how long it was taking, she continued to ensure your well-being and comfort (or at least the best one could while in labor).

The rest of team Akuta had been eagerly (Riyo) and rather anxiously (Zanka and Rudo) waiting for the baby’s arrival. Though Enjin continued to update them on the inevitably slow progress, he was adamant about not letting anyone else in the room, much to the team’s disappointment.

You were honestly grateful for that. As much as you loved the others, you didn't want the whole labor to be a spectacle. Plus, you just wanted to share the moment with your husband.

“I’m never doing this again,” you swear under your breath, sweat beading down your face. “There’s nothing magical about this shit. Why is she being so stubborn? My water broke yesterday.”

“Babies come at their own pace.” Alice shrugs. “She gets that stubborn streak from her knuckleheaded father.”

If you weren’t in such pain, you’d have laughed at the annoyed look on Enjin's face. When she finally announces that you’re finally dilated enough to push, you’re instantly relieved.

“Enjin would you like to catch your daughter?” Asks the doctor.

“Huh?” Enjin looks surprised. He quickly looks to you, not wanting to leave your side, but his clearly eager expression betrays his excitement.

“Go ahead.” You reassure, jokingly adding, “I just want her out of me at this point."

Within the next hour, your daughter finally arrives. With Alice’s help and guidance, Enjin catches her, cuts the umbilical cord, cleans and swaddles her. She stubbornly refuses to cry at first, but when she does cry, she cries.

“For such a small set of lungs, you sure make a racket, you brat,” Enjin says, but he has the biggest smile on his face.

Your daughter seems to settle down at the sound of his voice. Her eyes struggle to open at first, but she’s nosy as she takes in her surroundings. Her eyes are the same color as his.

Words couldn’t describe how elated he felt. The small being in his arms…the combination of you and himself. She was absolutely perfect.

Enjin's vision becomes blurry all of a sudden. He runs his finger down his daughter's rosy cheek, almost in disbelief that she is finally here in his arms.

“Welcome to the world, Princess.”
