I was defensive and heartbroken. By nothing.

I feel like my life has been refreshed with reassurance that there is nothing wrong and it all will be okay.

I’ve been refraining from writing for the past couple of months because I truly felt like my mind was testing me.

He leaned over and my eyes opened at this as he whispered, discernibly, ‘I love you.’

And I felt like my brain went numb as he scanned my face for those words to sink in, for me to accept that it was wrong to say something like that.

there was such a unique feeling that filled me when he swam over to me and pulled me into him.

‘Why are you crying?’ I mumbled softly. ‘Because I’m gonna miss you,’ he said honestly in a tear-stricken voice. ‘I’ll miss you too,’ I promised.

I wandered down the path, closed the door behind me, and then the heave of emotion escaped me with a flood of tears.

I suppose I thought it doesn’t matter what they say: if they say you deserve better, that you make them truly happy, etc. because in the end, they’re treating you like shit for a reason. They’re treating you like a burden rather than a friend for a reason.

His arms wrapped around my waist tightly, holding me as close as he could, his face burying into the crook of my neck.

He was everything I imagined and everything I completely hadn’t.

I suppose because I associate Thursday with so much. It’s like I romanticise it.

But she’s just waiting and begging for that reality to hit her again, the way it once did when he looked at his phone.
