Something Nurgle has in common with his youngest brother Slaanesh is a desire for amicable companionship and some of the sensations associated. His love language is cooking and physical contact, like hugging; it's just too bad that most non-Nurglish creatures would not survive his cooking and would perish in his embrace, either withering away from the proximity (nevermind the actual contact) or having their bones shatter from the sheer force of Grandfather's affection. Companions beware; Nurgle is a hugger if he isn't anything else.

Enter one Blood God.

Khorne's attitude towards Nurgle at any given moment sits between Ambivalence and Deep Vexation, only occasionally spilling into the rage and fury for which he is known. He has no notable hatred for Nurgle unlike Tzeentch and Slaanesh, and whenever the two find themselves prosperously allied (often enough, as Tzeentch enjoys provoking the both of them), Nurgle tries to take full advantage.

Another thing he shares with Slaanesh is an impaired sense of boundaries. While the Prince's transgressions are quite knowing and purposeful, Nurgle's are not always. Khorne has learned to expect it by now: Heralds of Nurgle inviting him for a stroll through the gardens, or a drink on the Mansion's Porch, or an ingredient not native of the Fly Lord's own lands for his cauldron. Think a neighborhood asking to borrow a cup of sugar. Khorne bears such vexations for a time, but eventually Nurgle pushes too far.

Several times, Nurgle has sought the closeness he craves (which is, perhaps subconsciously, still a desire to colonize ever surface and soul with his rotting essence) in the Blood God. Khorne is only god who doesn't immediately try to put distance between himself and Poxfather. Even standing too close, the Fly Lord's contagions cannot penetrate the fiery presence of Brass Lord, which kills such things just as fire will.

For Khorne, it's about dominance and showing no fear to a God he considers weaker than him and unable to usurp his power in any meaningful way. An alliance provides extra layers of context for his lack of the expected aggression. Nurgle takes that lack as implicit permission to linger and even touch to other Ruinous Power allowing him to stand perilously close where no other would dare.
