WARRIORS

The themes exploring how toxic masculinity affects male spaces, the idea of nature vs nurture, and how gang culture takes advantage of youth is so far removed that it's more and more of a stretch to reach it every time that a new adaptation comes across, it's further gone.

You go from the warriors being explicitly in high-school, doing stupid dickheaded things that gang members do and displaying this immaturity, to the only warrior in high-school being Rembrandt, to making the warriors age ambiguous. Aging down Fox to be younger than Rembrandt, (belittling the change that they decided to make with her sacrifice and changing a lot of group dynamics without switching the ways that characters interact) But the thing about that is that it means that you lose a larger point from the warriors: that gang culture takes advantage of the youth and uses them. In trying to make the warriors likable to current audiences you lose the original points and belittle the source material you are trying to honor.
