surreptitiously
Aella rose, folding the napkins now wet, hot with coffee in her hands silently. She met the other’s eyes, blue and bright, seemingly very focused on her. She forced herself to believe that her habitual suspicion was completely unfounded, and attempted to ignore the slight mistrust that was boiling within her veins. After all, it was her decision to come to the mess hall. If someone wanted to speak with her, she should not be so aghast and confused.
"I am a Betazoid,” she corrected, giving the other a calm, even gaze, presuming she knew from being able to ascertain her eye color as one unique to her species. “Betazed is the planet from which my species originates. But yes. At least in part, I am a Betazoid.”
"I apologize for my mistake," One said gravely. "I have not met a Betazoid before."

"Are you stationed here?" A simple, polite question, the curiosity not beyond the bounds of people newly met.
