Mona Lisa Overdrive: Sixteen
Ooh, 3Jane is going to be really important if the book is taking almost a whole chapter to just exposit about her history. Especially when some of this was already in the first book, but you usually need to remind the reader about things like this if theyāre going to be relevant going forward.
It also looks like weāll be learning more about what the combined Neuromancer and Wintermute did once it got to the matrix.
But the thing is⦠The reader knows how they AI got there, roughly what the loa are and other details that Angie doesnāt. So, it would be boring to see Angie spend a lot of time to find mostly information that the reader knows or adding just details to what happened in the previous book.
I can see two different directions this could go in. Either Angie finds out what happened in the first book relatively quickly (by, for example, talking to 3Jane or the AIs themselves) and most of the time will be spent on information the reader doesnāt already have, or there will be some huge revelation that makes looking at Angie try to figure it out seem meaningful, at least in retrospect.
