TW: Radfem, TERF rhetoric
Going on radfem blogs is such a trip. With me being a staunch feminist, I agree with so much of what they're saying. Yes, women suffer extremely horrific gendered violence and rape. Yes, women's reproductive labour is thankless and disregarded. Yes, girls are taught to be subservient to men and pressured into a lower social role that is seen as worth less than men. But then when it comes to trans, nb and intersex people, they turn into adolf hitler. They refuse to accept that everything they are protesting against also befalls trans women. We suffer gendered violence and rape, our labor is devalued a lot, we are seen as lesser and expected to be submissive and deferential to men. I don't understand how a group of people could so blatantly be right on so many aspects of feminism but fail when it comes to trans women.
I'll come across a post denouncing gender essentialism then the next post will be about how trans women can never be women. So much cognitive dissonance, they denounce gender essentialism in one breath then enforce it in the next.
"One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman" what do they think Simone de Beauvoir was talking about? If you understand that "woman" is a social category cis women are thrust into, how can you not understand that people can choose to adopt that social position willingly. Social categories are fluid and malleable. We know the gender performativity theory for goddess' sake. If one can be coerced into a gender, one can definitely choose their gender also. The existence of trans women should prove to you that 1) sex and gender ARE social constructs just like feminists theorized and 2) a woman is something worth being, that the desire to live as a woman and be seen as a woman is a refutation of the idea that women are lesser. Shouldn't the existence of trans women be a total vindication of what feminism stands for? "Biology is not destiny" should mean not only that your uterus shouldn't doom you to a life of subservience and sexual slavery but also that supposedly male biology cannot stop a woman if she really wants to self actualise and thrive as a woman. The fact that trans women see being a woman as aspirational should make obvious the worth of women. The fact that we spend so much time, money and effort in the act of becoming a woman should be a comfort to you. But they never see that. They only see us as weird fetishists and misogynists when the complete opposite is true. You don't aspire to something you hate. Racists do not seek to be black and misogynists do not seek to be women.
Radfems are right on like 90% of their grievances but then when it comes to trans women (and sometimes black men, which surprised me) they are no different than bigots like self described christian nationalists like matt walsh & chris rufo or the denizens of 4chan & kiwifarms. It's so jarring reading radfem blogs because one second your reading feminist theory and abortion rights and stories of the struggles of women in the global south and the next second you're reading the most vile, disgusting, bigoted transphobia youve ever seen in your life. Like suuuper rancid shit no different than the murderous fantasies of racists and fascists.
And it makes me sad, truly. If they just weren't transphobic, we'd be able to accomplish so much together. It's like a lost opportunity. They're so busy hating trans women to think critically about us.

I don’t know if this is an obvious take or a hot take, but I think people need to start re-framing feminism as the fight for body autonomy as opposed to whatever this second wave revival gender essentialist bullshit we have going on right now. Once you reframe it in this way, it’s easier to understand intersectionality and why cis women are not the only people who need feminism. The lack of body autonomy effects cis women, trans people, intersex people, disabled people, poc, homeless people, sex workers, etc. and your feminism needs to include and prioritise all of these groups of people (which will include men btw) because feminism is about autonomy, not about establishing a matriarchy. Body autonomy is the biggest threat to the patriarchy, both with reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and even the right to not be drafted into military services. Once body autonomy is established for everyone, the patriarchy no longer has a leg to stand on.
And body autonomy does include things that you don’t personally like either. I was prompted to write this post after a series of bad takes from progressives, but one of them was re-hashing the Sabrina Carpenter album cover drama with “I don’t think it’s conservative of me to think that the album cover is a bad look when we’ve seen images of women being abused in this way” because I do actually think you’ve failed to understand feminism by projecting your morals onto a woman who was consensually expressing her own autonomy just because she expressed it in a way that you didn’t like or that made you uncomfortable.
Body autonomy also means unhealthy choices. Body autonomy also means regret rates. Body autonomy also means freedom of sexuality. Body autonomy also means mutilation. If you believe body autonomy has limitations and exceptions, then your feminism is most likely surface level.
TERFs are some of the biggest opponents to body autonomy, and if you find yourself thinking “oh people can do whatever they want with their bodies as long as it doesn’t harm them or make others uncomfortable” then you are far more susceptible to TERF propaganda than you think.
If you think criticising a woman's choice is antithetical to her ability under law to make that choice you're a fucking idiot i cannot help you
People saying "this shit is lame" are not infringing on your rights, you just have zero critical thinking skills and victim mentality
OP: we need to redefine feminism in this super specific and de-fanged way! why? oh so it can include men of course. thats really our only priority
Defanged?? Specific? OP is literally advocating for a much broader and inclusive feminism. Feminism that affects more aspects of life from health to housing, autonomy for sex workers and disability rights. OP is obviously advocating for broadening feminism to apply it to more issues. Feminism that prioritizes a woman's bodily autonomy leads to downstream benefits for all the groups OP mentioned. How can you read this and think OP aims to defang feminism? You only think this if you believe that helping trans and intersex people diminishes feminism, and thats just categorically untrue. Feminism is for disabled, unhoused, trans and intersex people too. We want to spread feminism, not gatekeep it ffs.

Daily reminder to Americans on this website that American war on Iran is bad because Iranians are getting killed not because you can no longer afford going to the movies in the weekends or refill your car 😒
Y'know what, this reminder also includes non-Americans. Let's watch our words and keep the victims of American aggressions in our heart always
this is such a reductionist take its actually mind boggling. not being able to afford gas in a car dependent country is crippling. no ones been complaining about missing out on "weekend outings", ive only been hearing people not being able to afford a fucking quarter of the groceries we were able to buy years ago.
saying americans are butthurt over something as "simple" as these necessities, and that we value these over the innocent lives of iranians is so wildly insensitive im thinking this post might be a troll. how do you not understand that two things can be bad at the same time, and that war creates suffering for civilians on both sides.
Get the fuck outta here. This cant be a real post. Are you fucking both sides-ing the war on Iran?! Lmao. Holy shit. Last I checked, no US civilians were being slaughtered. There are no Iranian bombs over ANY US city. Wtf are you on about? Iranians are being KILLED. Like murdered .. to DEATH. That is incomparable with americans paying more for gas and groceries. Do you know who would have loved to JUST pay more for gas and groceries? The 156 families of the DEAD civillians in the Minab School bombing. 120 DEAD CHILDREN do not even remotely compare to americans paying 2 more dollars per gallon of gas. Are you insane??
Wow, im actually blown the fuck away. It's really true that americans dont see other people as human. Imagine thinking inflation is suffering. You people live such sheltered lives if thats what you think suffering is. Iranians are burying their dead every day while americans are complaining about expensive corn flakes. The AUDACITY. The fucking NERVE of you. You DO know that Iran's economy isnt doing so well because of US led sanctions right? So on top of burying the body parts of their loved ones, they ALSO have a shit time getting groceries and gas. The US bombed an oil depot in Tehran. There was fire in the sewers of the city engulfed in black smoke and smog. It was hell on earth. Many of them got poisoned because of this.... and ur comparing this literal environment of constant bombings and hellfire to fucking gas prices?? Either you're so ignorant and stupid that you genuinely have no idea OR you know and you're so mindbogglingly racist and Islamophobic that you dont see Iranians as people OR heaven forbid, both. Fuck. Your heart is black void of nothingness. Its not dissimilar to your brain. I hope you never get to taste a fraction of the suffering the US inflicts on the middle east. It would break you.
Let's not forget the immeasurable and truly crippling inflation the people of Iran have suffered for years if not decades due to american sanctions! One (1) singular USD equals 1375175 rial. How do they think inflation effects your life when your currency is worth close to nothing?
Once yanks have to caugh up their entire paycheck for a loaf of bread it will be a little closer to the reality the Iranians have been living in. Somehow, they still view others as human while yanks are having Chernobyl level meltdowns over 2$ more per GALLON (which is almost 4 liters so they still pay close to nothing compared to the rest of the world) of gas.
Yankeestan cannot fall apart soon enough.
