In 3x04, Simon says “she’s collecting again” in a bitter voice. In 3x09, 10 year old Simon is holding a bag while running away from the Ghom. He drops it when he realizes he can’t fit through the hole. I think Simon resents the Cat’s hoarding because it’s why they were in that car in the first place, and the bag contained something he was helping her collect.
