2026 Wishful Thinking: Savory Girl Gourmands

2025 was sort of the peak of gourmands and i think the fatigue is setting in and could go one of two ways: animals or neogourmands.

Neogourmands are non traditional gourmands and i think the first crop we may see is savory. To start off I wanna mention eastern perfumery and eastern gourmands as we have seen things like ube, mochi, mooncakes etc and i think focusing on eastern desserts and profiles will see a huge uptick esp with how almost every generation has a region their obsessed woth culturally and gen z/gen alpha seems to largely be asian countries and with d’annam being the It country we may see vietnam start to show their hand but also china as its becoming a superpower culturally through makeup and fashion.

This leads me to savory gourmands. With the ozempidemic i think the sweet tooth craving will turn savory as a counter culture against it. we’ve seen the rise of ‘savory girl’ and sardine snack plates and even it brands of sardines like fish wife. Its to the point theres no sardines in Walmart and as someone whos eaten them my whole life its annoying LOL! But rich, fatty, nutrient dense foods have been making waves esp with growing food insecurity and people more or less trying to use everything in their pantries.

To add on, over the summer bath and body works had a viral tomato perfume and candle, this could be seen as an extension of ‘tomato girl’ we saw late last year/early this year.

When it comes to traditional gourmands there is always gonna be a sense of artifice in smelling like a baked good and some people may be sick of that so they will reach towards things that smell like root veggies or fungi or savory food. Last year after having the best bowl of mushroom ramen ever I went on the hunt for an umami filled mushroomy perfume and found Universal Flowering’s Daddy and I’ve seen that climb in popularity.

Ofc I myst mention rice perfumes. Rice was really the It Note of 2025 because of how versatile it could be, and a lot of people seemed to enjoy a savory rice note. I think milk will also turn to butter a la Dandelion Butter by Clue.

Back to sardines, I could see people wanting to explore briny, sea salty scents maybe with an amber base maybe more marine/aquatic.

Martinis and esp dirty martinis also seem to be popular amongst some so maybe some olive scents? More green gourmanda with pesto and leafy greens. Versatile Paris has a few scents with accords of beer and roast chicken, pesto and pasta etc.

This also aligns with how much food has become decor and also fashion—tomatos, eggplants, cheese etc

And I really do get her.

Not a true gourmand, more woody and leathery. I think in that true space fashion, it’s not cold like you’d expect. It’s more like… the night, a time when space becomes most visible to us. Warm bodies touching that darkness in a too-familiar way. There’s a bit of mystery there, too, boldly adventuring out into the depth, accepting its embrace.

It’s a very herbaceous, dry fragrance that I think pairs with how dry and cloudy it has been outside for me recently. The iris is smoked out by a very subtle, gentle sage, almost enveloping it in an embrace. We are nearing that time of year where things are really starting to lay to rest, and I feel like Espíritu really encapsulates that sensation. It’s not rest as in sleep- I have a lot of sleepytime frags I adore- but rather a rest for the soul and mind.

My skin really allows that leather shine through, though unlike many leathers that I find overwhelm the skin and clothes, this one is very subdued, which I really do appreciate for a quiet day in. It really juxtaposes the leather in Cosmos, which really presented itself the longer it was worn.
