The general story is about human destroying the ecosystem, but there's another story just between the penguins.

It touches on ableism, community, tradition, etc.

Mumble's otherness being accepted by the other misfit penguins from another species is so important on how community plays a big part in his support system and personal development.

Gloria and his mother, too, are both penguins that's always loved him for who he is. It makes me so happy that she genuinely loved him from the start and she has always defended him from others ever since he was a baby.

The movie also touches on how his atypical behavior is just atypical in a specific society. He was so easily-accepted elsewhere because those implicit rules don't apply.

The elder penguins' willingness to stick to tradition just because it's tradition is a comment on how theology plays deeply into the operation of certain society (COUGHS CHRISTIAN US GOV COUGHS).

There's also another part of the story about how his "disability" is only deemed as worthy to the elders when it results in some benefit to the community (him being able to dance and communicate with humans to bring them to the penguin for help). It emulates how some disabilities are sensationalized when it becomes a source of inspiration for others or contributes to society to some way.

There's a lot in this movie about sympathy and kindness and community and how those are so important for disabled individuals to thrive.

Pictures I took on my sweaty summer walk today.

Met two dogs that apparently escaped the house and ran off to play (they had collars). Fortunately, they only crossed the small road and stayed on the sidewalk before swiftly returning to the residential area.

Met a mailman and asked for a picture. He said yes. Radiant beautiful smile. It's my favorite picture of the bunch.

I still need to learn how to frame things because the camera does NOT take what is shown the viewfinder and I end up with cropped area on the bottom (like the yellow car).
