at this point i am just convinced no one knows the plot of even just the musical wicked because if i hear one more person tell me it is a gay text when it is literally the straightwashed mainstreamed version of a gay book i'm going to lose my fucking mind.

most of the plot is heterosexual agony. the majority of the plot is heterosexual agony.

riffing off of this it's genuinely so crazy like REALLY crazy how many gay things have been removed from the novel wicked in this adaptation and the stage adaptation. the first page of the book wicked is elphaba overhearing the tin woodsman speculate that she might have a penis. one of its major themes is the contrast between elphaba who is a social exile from her own sex due to her disability and neglect and glinda who has a nightmarish terror vision about having to have sex with her future husband and then decides that she just has to marry a man because it's what everyone is telling her to do. plus they cut the gay guys even though one of them has gay sex with a tiger in a club. and thats not even in the movie.
