Sebastian Creams, heir to the Creams Mafia empire, has had an arranged marriage set up for his 30th birthday to his family's rival and enemy, the Goldsmiths.

The bride, Gloria, runs away an hour before the ceremony, and the Goldsmith family's youngest daughter, Jennifer Goldsmith, takes the bride's role.

Unknown to Sebastian, Jennifer has planned the whole arrangement so she could become Mrs Creams and Sebastian’s bride.

“Holy shit,” he murmured, stunned. He hadn’t smelled mermaid magic in years, not since the last time his pack got too close to the coasts and lost three wolves to the sea. It was rare. Forbidden. Dangerous. The kind of magic that could call storms or shatter bones from the inside if provoked. And she smelled perfect. Cassian’s pulse quickened, his wolf stirring. He adjusted the collar of his coat and walked forward slowly, each step deliberate. No more laughing. No more curiosity. This was something else now. He passed a café window. Warm lights. “Fuck!!!” Topaz whispered, stepping back from the window. Amber didn’t look up from the coffee grinder. “What is it?” she asked, voice still drowsy from their 4am wake-up. Topaz didn’t answer. Her heart was hammering. Her hands were cold. She stared through the glass as the detective looked up, looked right at her, with eyes the colour of dead things and daylight. And smiled. “Fuck!” she said again. This time louder.
