The thing is they're almost two sides of a coin. Kinda. Not exactly reflections. But!
Shadow Milk is unable to handle the effects of the dough, basically. It's causing him to lose even more sanity and stability than he already had. It's kinda like he's trying to glue himself together with what he did w/ the other beasts -ssc and the Ultimate Cookie. Its like trying to piece together shattered glass with Elmer's Glue. May work on the surface for like a minute but good luck trying any longer, and if you try and use the glass for anything... well...
And yet Gingerbrave is specifically noted to be "resonating" with what is essentially eating away at his soul according to Pure Vanilla. It kinda works with his body/soul (due to the bravery he possesses, and possibly the magic powder in his dough, too.)
They're two sides of how the strength of connection with the dough affects the outcome. They're similar but not alike.
Pure Vanilla said "you would not find records of his condition here at the Academy."
He's got little to no reference to help him, and with what we see of Gingerbrave, he's desperate to get to the First Oven to help the Radiant Cookie, even if he "can't hear [them] anymore."
I feel like he's going to try and hide any worsening symptoms. Sure, Pure Vanilla's healing magic helped him but I can guarantee that's only temporary. And it'll get exponentially worse. He wants to prioritize the First Oven over his own safety/health. We see this in Episode 4. And I think he'll want to continue that. And he'll hide his symptoms.
NOTE: Going back to the "not hearing the Radiant Cookie" thing... I had a thought of basically TUC and TRC almost playing tug of war with his soul, with "resonating strongest.
And I think we have a clear winner, due to TRC's weakness as of now and TUC's seemingly strengthening presence...It's an easy victory. So that's possibly why he hasn't heard her.
