okay so i really do love mitski and i pride myself on saying im one of her biggest fans which is why i often think about the mitski fans that say ‘real mitski fans don’t listen to mitski’

and i understand why they say that because yes, listening to mitski does make you feel sad and very melancholic and it makes me think back to middle school when i was really sad and my sister would ask me how i could listen to mitski and not feel sad because it just makes her sad

i’m now realizing that i was already so sad at that point and that’s likely probably the only reason why listening to her didn’t make me sad because now that i’m much better i do get a little sad when i listen to her and even nostalgic in a way that feels melancholic

and i don’t see myself to be a mitski fan who doesn’t listen to mitski because i do still listen to her i just have to like brace myself for that sad feeling and in a way it makes me happy knowing i have the privilege to feel happy that im no longer in a dark and sad place
