reading this webtoon feels like getting my head shoved underwater and then every time i try to resurface for air my head gets shoved back down underwater again

I have not seen ppl talking abt this but I thought it was neat! wolhye says that spending too much time in the godling “dimension” will make her “unravel” - considering the previous mentions of people being threads that are woven together to create the fabric of life, the godlings existing in a space where everyone unravels, loses their social bonds and probably their very identity, selfhood, personality, history, is interesting… theres a lot that can be said abt godlings, human culture/community as “cloth”, this entire metaphor, but i want to focus on the visual aspects here w wolhye and sara

how its visualized - the art w strands coming off wolhye to visually express that she is unraveling, coming apart, unwoven in the godling space, is really beautiful and striking to me, and reminded me of someone else

namely, saras character design as well as framing constantly has her long hair blowing in the wind, strands flying all over the place. and while previously I interpreted this as the face obscuring tactic that it was, hiding her eyes and often her expression, making her mysterious and beautiful and terrifying and unknowable in wolhyes eyes, I see that the second purpose for it was to make her appear as if she too is unraveling

the effect is achieved by coloring wolhye as 1-2 solid colors and having strands of those color fly off of her, but this is just. how sara is drawn all the time!! a black silhouette with black strands floating around her, looking like something alien and unknowable. its a purposeful design to draw her like this, as if she is unmoored and disconnecting from the world around her. shes back on earth and shes unraveling in the same way a human unravels in the space of a godling ……

I largely think this is metaphorical - idt sara is a godling or that she is physically falling apart, but I think her contract w vorago, her boredom of this life where she can know so much and yet can only perceive other ppl, is mentally making her unravel lol. like is she suicidal? has she given up? does she interpret her impending death as a part of an intricate plan shes cooked up? has she “lost her humanity” as samin believed? is this simply the end result of being able to see the future or unwind timelines from months ago…? maybe she had postpartum depression after having sayeon and never rly got better idk

Mind y'all that I'm not a fast passer so I'm only at chapter 128.

Before I get into it I want to do a more general analysis of my boy.

Not a very long analysis (if you could even call it that) but I did rant to my gf how I wholeheartedly believe Sayeon is narcissistic and/or has suspected NPD.

(I am open to discussion about this so feel free to reblog or comment with your thoughts if you agree or disagree.)

Adding onto this post— (this was originally in my reblogs but I decided to edit the og post I made.)

People with NPD care about their reputation and how other people view them. Sayeon wants to be viewed as trustworthy by her peers, she wants to be seen as a good leader, and someone who deserves to climb the ranks. Every time she would slip up or say or do something that goes against how she wants to be perceived, she would rewind and try again, choosing her choice words and reacting in a way she thinks a person “should” to remain this reliable leader she desperately clings to. That is important to her. Sometimes she acts arrogantly because she knows that she can rewind back and fix it, we can see her grow more and more cocky and arrogant the more she uses her gift and the more she gets the hang of it. She’s reliant on her gift and is very confident in her own abilities to the point it gets her into situations.

Another example of something else Sayeon and pwNPD share is their lack of empathy. PwNPD are shown to have little to no empathy for people and “sensitive” topics. In Sayeon’s case- she definitely lacks some empathy. There was a whole segment in season 2 where she has shown to have a dilemma within herself about empathy and sympathy. Her and Ryujin have a conversation after a mission where she couldn’t comprehend the fact her plan did not go exactly as she expected it to because the people acted differently to how she envisioned they would act; having and showing empathy and compassion. She makes a joke to Ryujin implying that she couldn’t believe that people would simply show kindness out of their own volition, and was fully confident they’d acted accordingly to how she thought. She has a hard time trying to get into other people’s point of views when it’s something she can’t understand nor comprehend properly, compared to someone like Ryujin, who deep down has a lot of compassion towards others— Sayeon does not have a good gripe on that matter.

I don't think that's correct. She WANTS you to think there's nothing deeper to her. She wants you to think she just wants to make the world a better place because she's a good person. But if you look deeper, you find her guilt, her narcissism, her self hatred, her genuine need to rid the world of herself and of people like her.

If she was in Homestuck her aspect would be time. Which is ironic because it legitimately is the power she already has.

This was a total spur-of-the-moment idea, and I started it completely by accident. That’s why page 1 is a bit chaotic, but I’ve numbered everything. Later on, I developed my train of thought on pages 2 and 3, showing another day in these girls' lives. I doubt I’ll develop this any further, as I have other ideas for now. I really like how it turned out, so I posted it as is!
