I think I feel it again

This in-between of past and future

The world outside moves so steadily slow

All the while I shake and crumble

I’m in this change

This kind where you don’t know what’s coming next,

But instinctively, you wanna know.

 I see these premonitions

These visions that tell it all,

Whether true or untrue.

Feeling this sense of hopelessness,

Coming from a fear of not striving or succeeding.

Like being trapped by your roots

So tightly you just can’t fly

 My visions feel like home

Driving down a familiar road

Sights of Pines and old trucks

All while forcing an alternative reality,

Of beautiful mountains laying in the distance

The feeling of the damp air

The height and the freedom.

But suddenly pulled back in a flash

To the city lights, house after house

Cant’s after cant’s

And no’s after no’s

Restricted and restrained at best.
