It was probably the first time he'd ever asked for anything that wasn't 'hard' or 'bitter', which was definitely a little out of character for him. But maybe he felt as though he didn't have to put on appearances as much anymore. The distant, hardboiled, grizzled SOLDIER thing almost felt like a thing of the past now. That isn't to say that he didn't try it every now and again.

But she almost always seemed to find a way through it. Whether it was getting him to be more involved with others, or somehow having him end up in some kind of silly situation. Why, he almost seemed like a normal and sociable person nowadays.
