For nearly a week, To'nea Miller's death existed almost entirely on social media. No major news outlet picked it up. No official statement was made. The only reason that changed is because the public refused to let her name disappear.
For days, the death of 27-year-old To’nea Miller sparked widespread questions online as loved ones and supporters demanded answers using the hashtag #JusticeForTonea.
After growing public attention, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office publicly addressed the case, saying detectives worked alongside the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office and found no evidence of foul play. Authorities said their investigation determined the circumstances surrounding Miller’s death were consistent with suicide.
Despite those findings, many on social media continue to call for additional transparency. According to reporting, and specifically CBS News Miami’s Tania Francois, the family has since met with investigators and was informed they have the option to pursue an independent autopsy for a second medical opinion.
As questions surrounding the case continue, officials maintain that the evidence reviewed so far does not support a criminal investigation into foul play.
