Balance is key!

❛❛ yep, that’s right, ❜❜ he grinned and settled his hands on his hips as he puffed out his chest, ❛❛ emphasis on the ‘if’- ❜❜ 

the sudden splash of cold water had him gasping as sprawled out on the ground. he laid there for a moment or so, dazed and staring up at the sky as he tried to catch his breath. well,  that  wasn’t the reaction he was expecting. then again, it wouldn’t have been the first time he was  literally swept off his feet. 

he coughed, spluttering as he pushed himself up into a sitting position. his usual spiked hair now drenched and practically having melted, dripping down along the sides of his face. instead of appearing irritated or even downright angry, he instead looked amused and, dare he say, impressed.  

leaf glares up at him, though the expression holds no real heat, and takes the bowl from his hand. oh it’s incredibly watery, but it’s not too horrible by any means. she finds herself eating it relatively quickly, managing to avoid stressing her sore throat.

once she’s finished the bowl is set down on the table and she returns to her blanket burrito, only her face poking out. leaf nods toward the free space on the couch, ’ the least you can do after forcing me to eat your cooking is let me lay on you and use you as a pillow. ’

he seems to sigh a breath of relief, inwardly glad she was able to eat it without so much as gagging; which was what he himself would have done - he did. he did do that. he knew his own cooking enough to when something was inedible. thankfully, this didn’t seem to be one of those times.  

a pout is very prevalent on her face, and she feels like she’s being bullied by her friend. the threat isn’t so much a threat when she enjoys his company. even still she sits cross legged on her couch and raises a brow at blue, resting her chin on her fist. 

’ that a threat, blue? ’ she teases, eyes crinkling at the corners as she smirks at him. she knew he absolutely would stick with her to keep her under control, ’ you and geyser both won’t let me anywhere near hard labor. i think i’m well watched after. ’ 

❛❛ as threatening as i can get, ❜❜ which was not at all when it came to one of his closest friends. however, the worry he felt at the idea of her so much as lifting a finger until she felt better.  

not that he didn’t think she could handle it, she definitely could, but if she wanted to get better she needed to just rest.  

she lets out a long groan, then coughing and immediately regretting it. now leaf recalled exactly why she asked blue to come by; he was 100× more stubborn than she would or could ever hope to be. while his soup looked…questionable at best, leaf really didn’t want to spend her night arguing with him. that and she felt misersble; briefly she wondered if she could coerce some cuddles from him if she ate. 

’ fine, fine. even though–ack, your cooking looks bad. ’ 

he stared at her for a moment or two before huffing and putting the hand that wasn’t holding the bowl of... soup on his hip. okay, so he wasn’t the greatest cook in the world, he struggled to even keep toast from burning, but at least he gave it a shot.  

❛❛ i’ll have you know that’s just what a home cooked meal is supposed to look like, ❜❜ he rolled his eyes, though he was grinning. if anything, the soup would be incredibly, incredibly watery. 

leaf is bundled in a pile of blankets, looking miserable. green eyes trail up to blue’s face and she gives him a wavering smile. she picks up her mug of tea and sniffles, lips parting so she can breathe. 

’ your company is plenty…that and if you’d make more tea for me when i need it, that’d be wonderful. i’m all wrapped up and cozy and the outside is cold. ’

he couldn’t help the smile that tugged at his lips, she was even cheeky while sicker than a growlithe with a fever. jeez, when did he start talking like that- er, thinking like that.
