Signal Synth is a real-time visual instrument built with Processing. Using a small set of geometric forms as its raw material, the sketch transforms simple shapes into evolving signals through rotation, feedback, oscillation, scaling, and automated parameter mutation. The result ranges from clean geometric studies to chaotic electronic-looking artifacts that feel somewhere between a vector oscilloscope, analog video feedback, and a modular synthesizer. Features include: • 9 geometric shape generators • Feedback-based drawing trails • Adjustable rotation, scale, stroke, and persistence controls • Independent sine-wave modulation of X position, Y position, and scale • Live glitch mode for introducing instability and jitter • Automated randomization engine for continuously evolving compositions • Black-on-white and white-on-black display modes • Full HUD for live performance and experimentation This sketch is part of my ongoing effort to release creative coding tools, experiments, instruments, and generative art systems built with Processing. Controls are included directly in the sketch HUD. If you enjoy this work, consider subscribing and joining my Patreon. I'm working toward releasing a new Processing sketch, creative coding experiment, or generative art tool every week. #processing #creativecoding #generativeart #processingorg #codeart #generativedesign #creativecodingart #algorithmicart #visualsynth #digitalart

Built a new Processing + GLSL visual instrument tonight.
This version can: • switch between camera / video / image folders • dynamically load folders during runtime • lazy-load images instead of preloading everything into RAM • apply mosaic fragmentation + mesh distortion • auto-randomize layouts • crop media properly instead of stretching it
Feels somewhere between: video synthesizer collage machine shader sketchbook broken archive terminal
I’m trying to start releasing one free creative coding tool or experiment every week over on Patreon from here on out.
More sketches, more systems, more visual noise, more strange little machines.

“All the seven deadly sins are peccadilloes but without three of them, Pride, Lust, and Sloth, poetry might never have been born.”
— Vladimir Nabokov, Pale Fire
“The high luxury of not having to explain…”
— Virginia Woolf, from a diary entry (via liebesfraulein)
Dither Lab is a realtime Processing + GLSL experiment that transforms live camera footage and video into dynamic dithered textures and fragmented electronic surfaces. The sketch explores: Bayer dithering noise-based thresholding block-based image reduction signal degradation aesthetics realtime shader manipulation Controls allow live adjustment of: contrast brightness threshold bias grid size animated noise inversion blending intensity I’m interested in the point where imagery stops functioning like photography and starts functioning like material. Built with: Processing GLSL shaders Processing Video library Code available on Patreon. Part of the ongoing Another Human in the Loop creative coding lab. #processing #creativecoding #generativeart #shaderart #glsl #newmediaart #computerart #experimentalvideo #realtimegraphics #videoart

“All sins are attempts to fill voids.”
— Simone Weil, Gravity and Grace
“I wish that life should not be cheap, but sacred. I wish the days to be as centuries, loaded, fragrant.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson, The Conduct of Life (via metrosouthern)
Happiness is not a momentary event. It has a long tail that reaches back into the past. Happiness feeds off all that has been part of a life. It does not have a shiny appearance; its appearance is an afterglow. We owe our happiness to the salvation of the past. This salvation requires a narrative tension in which the present integrates the past, thereby making the past a continuing influence, even resurrecting the past. In the state of happiness, salvation reverberates. When everything becomes part of a maelstrom of actuality, a storm of contingency, there can be no happiness for us. Byung-Chul Han. 2024. The Crisis of Narration. Cambridge: Polity Press.
Motion graphics and video feedback programmed with #processing
This Processing sketch began while looking at paintings by Paul Kremer and thinking about softness, suspended forms, color relationships, and slow organic motion. I wanted the shapes to feel somewhere between paint, organisms, clouds, and inflatables drifting through a dream-space. The blobs are generated with Perlin noise and continuously reshape themselves over time, creating forms that never fully settle into a fixed identity. Each object can move autonomously, change scale, mutate its surface tension, and cast soft shifting shadows against a rotating palette of candy-colored backgrounds. Even though the system is interactive, I’m sharing the video without the HUD or controls so the piece can exist more like a moving painting than a software demo. Built in Processing. Downloadable on Patreon. Influences: Paul Kremer, biomorphic abstraction, soft sculpture, digital painting, generative animation, liquid forms, ambient motion.
