Hello all! I couldn't remember if I had done a writeblr reintroduction and, as it's been a while and I've acquired a good number of followers since, I figured I would give it a go.
about the author:
I love to write, particularly historical fiction, fantasy, and thrillers.
When not writing, I like to crochet and knit.
I'm disgustingly in love with Fjallraven Känken backpacks. I have 7, so far, and a laptop case.
When not writing, I am a History Person. I am currently a middle school social science teacher.
You can call me Sav, I'm 29 (white, cis, female). My pen name is Cornelia Stone. All original written works are copyright to myself and that name, so you'll see it floating around. My current projects are as follows:
OPERATION ECLOGUES - An urban fantasy series focusing on the plight of a private investigator and his motley band of misfits as they search for missing import company heiresses, combat corrupt government and radical third party groups, and attempt to make a messy, magical world a bit more orderly. [ SECONDARY WIP ]
Bonus: PHOTO NEGATIVES, the prequel to the events of Book One, about 5-7 years before [ OUTLINING ]
A CASTING OF LOTS - A historical fantasy retelling of the events centered around Homer's Iliad and Odyssey which focuses on questions of fate, war, and free will and how all of these may intertwine to become manipulated and how four individuals can use that to make their way home.
WHERE THE BLACKBIRDS ROOST - A mish-mash of psychological thriller meets historical fantasy, this standalone, nonlinear novel focuses on themes of guilt, regret, and how time can break even the most seasoned of investigators. The storyline follows two San Francisco homicide detectives as they must unearth the secrets surrounding a serial killer that has been buried beneath political machinations and the sensationalism of mass media. [ ON HOLD ]
ODILANI'S ROSE - A romantasy reminiscent of This Woven Kingdom, with lush world building and a political intrigue plot, interspersed with romance and shenaniganry, this standalone focuses on the parallelism between love and war when the young prince of a nation on the brink of political turmoil must choose between his heart or his people. [ ON HOLD ]
PROJECTHOOD - Current brain weasel, Robin Hood historical fiction inspired. Possibly my NaNoWriMo project for 2023, alongside ACoL.
NOTE: I usually rotate through WIPs one or two at a time. However, I will still answer questions and occasionally create drabbles for all works to keep the ideas alive. If it's on hold, that means inspiration has waned, but it's still on my mind.

in 2026, remember how GOOD writing feels. remember how satsfying it is to get your characters to the point you have been dying to get to, where they will experience the love, fear, relief or whatever the feeling you want to bring to life may be. let this year be the year of writing, prgress and of satisfactory endings.
hellooo it's me in your askbox againn. Do you have a favorite "minor" character from the iliad (eg. one of the soldiers)??
Hello! You’re always welcome🙏
Do we consider Meriones a minor character? Because nobody talks about him but he’s hella badass but not like a MAIN main character. But he’s so cool.
No. Wait. Polydamas. I freaking love Polydamas. He counts as a minor character right?? How did I almost forget about Hector’s twiiiinnnn???? Battlefield-Cassandra (bro has great advice and gets ignored every damn time). I have an old sketch of him hang on lemme find it
It’s a graphite sketch that I coloured on my phone so it’s not great but I just did a Hector one to go with it so I much render them now HOW DID I FORGET ABOUT HIM aaaaa
I just got to the part where he gets the shit scared outta him by Vivacia in Ship of Magic and all I could say was GET HIS ASS VIV
Also, like. What's Kennit's deal??? I am fascinated. He's an evil little man but, also, a likeable one at times?? V strange. Like...I dunno. I wanna poke him with a stick.
And bless the Vestrit family y'all been and are going through it, I already know.
What helped me write trauma better is remembering that the nervous system learns predictions. If danger used to come after quiet, calm can feel threatening. If kindness used to come with a price, kindness can feel suspicious. So healing is not just “they know they’re safe now.” Healing is the slow, annoying, deeply unfair process of teaching the body that the old prediction is not always the present truth.

My handwriting is the same style as the teacher’s who I had when I was nine. I’m now twenty one and he’s been dead eight years but my i’s still curve the same way as his.
I watched the last season of a TV show recently but I started it with my friend in high school. We haven’t spoken in four years.
I make lentil soup through the recipe my gran gave me.
I curl my hair the way my best friend showed me.
I learned to love books because my father loved them first.
How terrifying, how excruciatingly painful to acknowledge this. That I am a jigsaw puzzle of everyone I have briefly known and loved. I carry them on with me even if I don’t know it. How beautiful.
Cooking up a scene for my first Kassandra POV chapter and....ma'am is going through it. Apollo is also a very... not comfy character.
It involves dream sequence, god-created psychosis stuff, and some uncomfortable realities about serving the gods (bc in this story people are playthings on a godly chess board)
The more I've prepared and looked at Kassandra as a character – because she and Philoctetes were added so late into drafting, I've been researching about different aspects for them both, such as her seizures and his reality as someone in a war fighting with an aid – and I've come to realize that her reactions and interactions with Apollo, as toxic and layered as they will be presented, are so much More than other priests/priestesses because of a few reasons:
1. Kassandra canonically refuses Apollo, but still retains her gift. This, effectively, makes her an oathbreaker. Breaking oaths with the gods, particularly those who (in ACoL) view you as a plaything and a chess pieces to move around, would have dire consequences. Those consequences manifest in Kassandra in Simple Partial Seizures & Absence Seizures.
2. She doesn't believe in Apollo. Yes, she provides lip service to him, as the god protecting her city, but the Trojans were possibly not always followers of Hellenism, given that the rumored site of Troy is near modern-day Turkey/Middle East. I like playing with the idea that Kassandra is more aligned to the Hittite goddess of medicine and healing, Kamrušepu, and that this becomes part of why Apollo punishes her so cruelly.
3. Apollo isn't a kind god. He is known to send plagues just as easily as he can heal; in fact, he sends a plague in The Iliad to destroy the army of the Greeks. It is very easy for me, as an author, to view Apollo's almost obssessive-ness toward her and, by extension, her twin brother, as something that happens because he cannot let her go. And, if she won't believe or accept what he wants, he will drive her mad to get it.
....so I finished the drabble a while back, just been busy and haven't cleaned it up, but I'm genuinely wondering if I should post it because it's...very dark and plays with aspects of Greek mythology like, well, gods coming to people as animals and how that disarms the person enough that they're, for lack of wording, taken advantage of
I could post snippets, possibly, but uh, thoughts I suppose?? Lack of agency and consent/lack thereof are themes I play with a lot in this WIP, so it makes sense, but it's Heavy

There is a WHOLE SERIES of these!! Amazon has like half the series under Ackerman, Angela and the other half under Puglisi, Becca, but both authors worked on all of them. The Emotion Thesaurus has done SO MUCH to help me improve my writing of body language and such too. And they’re each like $5-6 for the Kindle version with quick links in the table of contents and everything. I cannot recommend these enough, they’re super special awesome.
An example of how this has helped me was in this section here; the first photo is the first draft and the second is the final version of this scene. I mostly used The Emotion Thesaurus for this; the emotion being conveyed here is relief and relaxing after suppressing stress for a long time, but S himself isn’t really aware of his own emotional state here and I could not use those words to describe what he was feeling inwardly. So instead I used what he feels in his body and his surface rationalization, and it just reads so nicely this way imo.
I will remember and not be unmindful of Apollo who shoots afar. As he goes through the house of Zeus, the gods tremble before him and all spring up from their seats when he draws near, as he bends his bright bow. But Leto alone stays by the side of Zeus who delights in thunder; and then she unstrings his bow, and closes his quiver, and takes his archery from his strong shoulders in her hands and hangs them on a golden peg against a pillar of his father's house. Then she leads him to a seat and makes him sit: and the Father gives him nectar in a golden cup welcoming his dear son, while the other gods make him sit down there, and queenly Leto rejoices because she bare a mighty son and an archer. Rejoice, blessed Leto, for you bare glorious children, the lord Apollo and Artemis who delights in arrows.

genuine writers getting wrongly accused of using ai because of witch hunt and proper grammar/structure in their works must be what being a woman in the 1600s who is wrongly accused of being a witch because she can read and is intelligent feels like
