I wanted to get closer, but I was scar- I didn’t want them to spray me. Dad would be really mad if I came home stinkin’ of skunk piss. Wait, is it even piss? What do they spray? Is it some kinda chemical or something? Is that why it, like, never comes off?

Dick instinctively puts his hand on one side of Jason’s face, patting it gently. He doesn’t say anything as Jason speaks and he doesn’t make to, either. There’s nothing to say to that really. It’s just like Jason not to promise anything. And it’s just like Dick to be a little brat about it and think that it’s not fair, to be just a little mad that Jason won’t promise. But he knows that this is some hard stuff that they’re dealing with so being a brat won’t do anything but make Jason pissy. And right now they’re getting along so he might as well relish that.

Jason can feel Dick turn away, and can almost feel what he's thinking about. Bruce. Of course. Because Bruce is the giant obstacle in the way of pretty much every relationship that Dick tries to have with any of his remaining family, especially Dick. He wishes that he could move past his anger, or at least find some way to work around it, but inevitably Bruce was going to become a problem.
