A huge influence of mine. It's hard to find articles about him.
Read this article while I was in Austin this past weekend

Alive at Arlene's Grocery. Catch us there again on April 5th.Â
Sorry I've been so quiet on this for awhile!
Here's a group that I've been quiet busy with over the last few months. They are an Irish fusion group called Broken Banjo Strings. This is a quick clip of us at The Keg Room in NYC, on 3/16/13
B.B. King that is. I'm a few days late, but September 16th marked B.B.'s 86th birthday. One of my favorite blues musicians, B.B. King is ranked as #3 on Rolling Stones 100 Greatest Guitarist's of All Time. Edward Komara writes, " King introduced a sophisticated style of soloing based on fluid string bending and shimmering vibrato that would influence virtually every electric blues guitarist that followed."
I actually had the opportunity to see B.B. King, along with Joe Bonamassa and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, for his 80th birthday a few years back.
This clip taken from his concert at New York's Sing Sing Prison is considered by B.B. to be one of his best live performances. I couldn't find who the band members are in this footage, if anyone knows, please let me know!
EnjoyÂ
Part one of a solo I put together earlier this summer
Quite possibly one of the best film scenes of all time.
In case you didn't know, guitarist Wendy Melvoin was only 19 years old when she joined up with Prince, the live recording of Purple Rain was her debut performance with the band.

Great article I read a few months ago about the Fleet Foxes most recent album, Helplessness Blues.Â
Here is the Jeff Hamilton Trio performing "Apple Honey"
Hamilton is known for his stellar brushwork. Check some of it out in this recording that took place in Germany.
New Layout!
Okay so I am trying a new layout, I'm still messing around, so lets see how this one goes. Also, I'll be using my Vimeo account to post new videos. I was told that it works much better than tumbr's video uploader.Â
More to come!
Simon and Garfunkel performing a great live version of their tune, "The Only Living Boy in New York"
Listen to Joe Osborn's bass work and Hal Blaine's drumming on the studio version. Pure genius. On this live version, check out the work of bassist Pino Paladino and drummer Jim Keltner. Listen to other recordings that they appear on. Any work that they do never settles to be anything less than greatness.
Opps! Where did the time go?
Anyways, I was reading a great article from Modern Drummer Magazine about Richie Hayward, drummer for the band Little Feat.
Richie fused jazz and rock together, helping to form Feat's unique sound. I especially love his contribution of New Orleans second line rhythms into many of the grooves that he plays. Here is a great link to Richie and the guys playing for BBC in 1975. For some reason my Realplayer isn't letting me download videos anymore. I'll get on that asap.
Until then, enjoy--and pick up a copy of Little Feat's live album Waiting For Columbus if you want to hear of this bands unique sound.Â

Sorry for the lack of posts…I’ve been a little tied up. I’ll change gears from The Sun Gets Down Tunes…I’ll finish posting the album asap. Just recently, I started studying with Billy Martin…based out of New Jersey, Billy is known for playing with his trio Medeski Martin and Wood. Check them out if you have never heard. For the musicians out there, check out Billy’s book - Riddim: Claves of African Origin. It has opened my mind on new ways to approach playing. Here is a quick interview with MMW
"Truth" --Track three from Ties To The Grid.Â
Also, last night, I had the opportunity to see a fundraiser for Japan at NYC's Brooklyn Bowl. John Medeski and Billy Martin headlined the show, along with some other great musicians. I will post pictures and video from this event over the next few days.
