Are you worried that your family's pedigree won't mean anything on the new world?
âNo. Iâd say everybody knows their place by now.â
âAnd besides, since you know our pedigree so well, you probably already know that establishing government on new land is kind of our thing. Like, leading, you know?â Â

âClothes, shoes, make-up, diamonds. Itâs really a boring answer, but first impressions are key⌠And I like to make people question if they even deserve one from me.â
Ochaco was used to flared tempers, though usually not directed at her as of late. Her cool demeanor maintained as the blonde girl apologized to her. A very small smile appeared on her lips. âItâs alright, but if you push just a bit my offer does still stand.â
Her arm extended, as a âproceedâ sort of motion. Once they started moving, she glanced once more at the girl, âHow long have you been doing this? The route, or running in general?â
It took her a moment to steady her breathing as they began their trek, though she did her best to not to let it show. âI started running in High School. I was never really one for team sports, but I wanted to stay in shape. Eventually, I joined track. I placed every year.â It was in her nature to throw in the subtle brag, though âplacedâ made it sound a lot better. She had gotten several thirdâs, to go with her winning run. But she didnât need to know that.
âIâve only ran here a couple times before, I usually prefer the streets in First. What about you, councilwoman? What brings you to the Second Ring?â Â
Sosuke felt bad that she had a hair in her hair, but he didnât think he would ever return it for that reason. Unless, of course, a whole toupee had fallen in, which it didnât look like. âIâm not eavesdropping necessarily. Iâm just paying attention to my surroundings. Thatâs how you stay safe and informed,â he recited, almost word-for-word for how his mother taught him as a young boy.
âWell congrats, youâve just been informed about the staffâs lack of hairnets.â There was no hiding the fact that Pacifica was definitely still annoyed. She had finals to study for, she didnât have time for this. âIf I were you Iâd put it to use and check your next bite carefully.â

The outside world was not like mother had told her. If there were monsters, they were hidden well. Mostly Rapunzel just saw⌠people. So, so, so many people. And so many rules that everyone seemingly knew about and Rapunzel just didnât.
Well, she could do this. She got this! She could order herself a coffee.
Someday.
(Maybe Mother knew best, after all.)
She let out a little eep sound as someone bumped into her, quickly remembering to pull up her braided hair so people wouldnât stumble over it. She lifted her hand to try and catch someoneâs attention, but it wasnât working.
âAhem, uhm, s-sir,â she tried, only to be completely ignored again. A small frown was starting to form on her face, her eyebrow twitching.
Pacifica was tired of waiting. âYouâre clearly not getting paid by the hour here. So if you really want a tip, Iâd maybe try working for one.â That finally caught the employeeâs attention. Almost too well, really, as he then just took to starring at her. The teenager went to defend himself, but Pacifica had no intention of letting him get the last word, or even one, really. âThereâs a line.â
âYou do know how to take an order, right?â The glared a each other for another brief moment, before the barista apologized and finally waited on the woman in front of her.
Sosuke choked back on the meal he was enjoying. As a household rule, his mother didnât care if people talked with food in their mouth. However, Sosuke knew that not every everyone was so lenient, and he wanted to be respectful. Still, he had to interject immediately, food be damned.
âHo- wait, is that allowed?!â
âSince someone shed their damaged, greasy hair in my food, yeah, Iâd say itâs allowed.â Pacifica snapped. Some would say she was overreacting, but she would happily disagree. Her delivery had a hair, she wasnât going to eat someone elseâs filth. Plus, the entire point of delivery was not having to move in the first place, so you could see why she was oh-so-happy to have to return her order for a new one. âAnd apparently, so is eavesdropping.â  Â
Bill eyed the screen he carried, scrolling through the text. âWell, seems thereâs an episode of pink eye for part of the station and pneumonia in another. And here I thought sick season was over.â He said, rolling his eyes. âSeems thatâs all there is to report. Everything else is about the meteor shower, but I doubt these articles are any more enlightened than the rest.â The short boy said with a sigh, âlong and short of it, Iâd save my money rather than buy this edition of the news.â He concluded, eyeing his companion across the table.
âIâd save my money anyway.â Pacificaâs eyes never left her phone as she scrolled through whatever was apparently more interesting. She sighed, shutting off the screen and deciding to be polite enough to at least look at him. âSpend money to read about other peopleâs problems? No thanks.â
âYou know it gets easier,â The tall woman said, her face in a casual state of amusement, âEvery day it gets a little easier, but you gotta do it every day. Thatâs the hard part.â Edo clarified, putting her hands on her hips waiting for the other person to stand up. Her black and white track suit fit well on her muscular frame. âIf you make it to the next coffee shop without passing out, its on me. Want to see if youâll make it, or are you going to just give up?â She stated, issuing the challenge.
âI know that,â Pacifica snapped as she tried harder to catch her breath. Still panting, she stood back up and eyed who ever in their right mind decided to patronize her... Lady E. That was Lady E. With a family who took pride in power and politics, Pacifica definitely knew who she was. She was someone who was worth impressing and if she didnât do damage control soon, she would lose any chance to do that.
The Northwest girl grudgingly pushed aside her pride to start fresh. She even threw in a guilty sigh to better her chances. âI am so sorry. Iâve been pushing myself really hard today, too hard, and I guess it just got to me. Though, thatâs no excuse.â She hated this. âIf your offer still stands, I would love to take you up on it.â    Â

Pacifica is well aware of her attraction to girls, but she has no intention of labelling it. That would mean admitting it. Though LGBT+ rights were widely accepted across the station, even by her parents, having a daughter who was part of that community had never been part of the Northwest plan. Pacifica had moulded her life around her parentâs wishes, and a future (wealthy) husband had always been one of those. Sheâs come this far, it would be stupid to ruin everything now.
Modifications: Advanced augmentations
The Northwestâs made sure to give their little girl the best Augmentations their money could buy, but when it came to genetic modifications, they seemed to have different ideas. Outwardly, Preston and Priscilla Northwest scoffed at the idea of scientifically improving their childâs abilities. That child wouldâve been a Northwest anyways, and you canât improve what would already be perfect.
Truth be told, the only reason they didnât buy into genetic modification is because they didnât have the funds. State of the art First Ring technology isnât something you can afford with your spare change, even if you are, arguably, some of richest people in the Second Ring. But despite speculation, the Northwestâs continue to insist it was simply their choice.
Miscellaneous Details:Â
Pacificaâs âstapleâ blonde hair actually comes from a dye job.
Residence: Second Ring
Occupation: Business Student
Background:
When politics were first established on the Aeterno, so were the Northwestâs. Their family represented the stationâs Second Ring as some of itâs first Senates and Governors. Eventually, their successors strayed from government careers, but they still managed to stay prominent in the ring. And that prominence was something that Preston and Priscilla Northwest took very seriously. They seen everyone with an income lower then their own as lesser. To them, that was the way to maintain their high status, despite not yet being able to make the move to the next ring up. Mr. Northwest may have been a decent business man, but he was far from resourceful. He was too busy wasting their money on looking good in the Second Ring, to have savings enough to advance them to First.
When their daughter Pacifica came along, they decided to raise her to be as flawless as they believed themselves to be. Her look was always polished, her attitude was always sharp, and she was never allowed to stray from perfection. The expectations and pressure they had put this girl under were very unhealthy, but their daughter would never complain. Not only because of the consequences that would come with it, but because Pacifica would never stoop to seeming weak.
The critiques were never constructive and the compliments were usually backhanded, but Pacifica did end up learning a lot from her parentâs teachingâs. She learned about her insecurities and how she had to do everything to hide them. She learned that there were no mistakes or losses when it came to being a Northwest. And she learned how to put everyone else down in an attempt to see herself rise. She had to be better then everybody, and an easy way to do that was to use her words. When she felt inadequate, angry, stressed, or scared, all Pacifica had to do was take it out on others, turn the table and find their weak points instead. It wasnât the right thing to do, and sometimes she even realized this, but itâs what she trained herself to do. If she didnât always feel the best, she was going to make sure everybody else thought she did. Â
Three or more Head canons:
1. For Pacifica, a business degree was merely another accessory. She agreed to attend only because it was what her parents wanted. And truthfully, she knew the plan had been to show off that the Northwestâs had enough money to further their daughterâs education as Second Ring residents.
2: Her appearance is something that she has always kept a watchful eye over. Her âcoffeeâ order is a black tea, on a night out she drinks red wine, and tries to keep her carb intake to a minimum. She commits to routine cardio and fits yoga in whenever she can. And donât even get her started about her skin care routine⌠  Â
3: When she was younger, Pacifica had racked up many trophies for their small-town beauty pageants, so much so that she had managed to attend one in the First Ring. When asked about it, her mother boasts about the experience, but in reality, the family felt quite embarrassed by it. Instead of being treated as their equals, the Northwestâs believed they were only accepted as a charity case. The experience ended up knocking the family down a peg, but they never did change their ways because of it.
4: Pacifica was taught to view lower class Second Ring citizenâs as inferior, but Outer Ringers were people she was never to associate with. The stories and stereotypes she was fed are enough to keep her far away from the likes of that part of the station.
5: Pacificaâs pride stops her from doing a lot of the things⌠Like singing at a karaoke bar. Itâs something she know she could make cool if she wanted to, but it had already been dubbed dorky and childish by her peers. Singing like that was something she could get away with as a child, but now that she was older she had to take life more seriously. Â
6: Deep, deep, deep, down, Pacifica has a rebellious phase just dying to come out. It would take a series of baby steps before she was willing to defy her parents, but with the right cause or person, she could get there.
