The end of WU LYF has brought LUH (Lost Under Heaven) into this world. Fronted by none other than frontman of WU LYF himself, Ellery James Roberts, along with his partner Ebony Hoorn, whom together released music, art, photography, film and manifestos into the world since 2012.

I&I is the opening to the much anticipated album of LUH that hopefully will be released sometime this year (2016). I&I is symphonic, beautiful and simply euphoric. It has an incredible build-up, starting with the surprising introduction of a piano. The raspy vocals of Roberts intertwined with vocals from Hoorn plus the dream-like background track will leave you wanting and yearning for more from the indie rock duo.

Cocoon is an addictive anthem for the kids who do not give two fucks about the ideologies of others. A typical bad boy meets good girl story, Cocoon is fueled with energy and is unbelievably catchy to the ears of the youth. It’s short guitar solos are bold, accompanied with the savage pounding of drums, as if bringing out the frustration of an angsty teen.

A cover by Tegan and Sara of The Rolling Stones’ Fool To Cry. First heard this on We Are Hunted back in early 2013. Though Tegan and Sara did not change the song lyrically, Fool To Cry still made perfect sense with the amount of emotions Sara puts into singing the verses. And as always, magic happens when Tegan joins in for the chorus, adding in more sentiments to The Rolling Stones’ Fool To Cry. This may not be Tegan and Sara’s usual sound, but it is an interesting listen to a very refreshing side of the duo’s vocals.

For when the low hits you suddenly, and you realise that there’s nowhere else to go. The clock strikes at the loneliest hour of 2 in the morning. It is the urge to run, but not having the mental capacity to do so this late at night. It is feeling foreign and distant even though you’re home. It is the sudden realisation that you’ll never be as young as you are today. It is the gut-wrenching regret you have for not taking the chances. It is the love you’ve lost, and fear will never find.

Day 281 281 days feels like forever, is there time in space? I don't know anymore, but the monitor displays the time. “281 days. June 28th 2019, 03:00 A.M.(GMT/UTC - 05:00 hours)” June 28th. She would have killed me back then for forgetting this date. I remember her looking as beautiful as she had ever looked, walking down the aisle towards me. And for years, on this date, we would go to her favourite place for dinner. Now that I couldn’t, I thought of leaving her a video message, and though it’ll take days to reach her, she’ll know that I meant it with all my heart.  But I couldn’t reach her now, with a big red cross on the screen signalling for satellite interference, nothing's getting through me. It has been like this for days now.

I have been dreaming of you, dressed in the dark blue gown that we stole from Macy’s when we were 17. I just got back from work, and you gave a look as somber and gloomy as the gown you wore. My dear, what are you thinking? What have they done to you? You whispered softly between sobs, “What are we coming to, and what are we gonna do?” And in my dreams, I wish I told you that I think I know now. 

“When you're dancing slow, I see your fire go, Electric Indigo“

Electric Indigo is the first single from The Paper Kites’ second studio album twelvefour. It is, as Sam Bentley of The Paper Kites, described as an “80’s soaked late night jam”. The album twelvefour was written in the hours between 12 to 4 in the morning, the time in which The Paper Kites believes that an artist’s creativity is at it’s peak. Electric Indigo opens with soft overlapped rhythmic drum beats and a dreamy 80’s-like guitar riff, building up to the entry of the subtle and vulnerable vocals of Sam Bentley. It is smooth to the ears and hypnotizing, as I can assure you that one listen will not be enough to digest this gorgeous tune. Electric Indigo brings upon melancholy thoughts as you listen to it in the strange and silent hours of twilight.

Switzerland brings serenity to the troubled heart. It combines the peaceful and almost silk-like sounding accordion with the quirky quick taps of the xylophone to put together a beautiful instrumental work of art. Switzerland is a song to listen to as you look out the windows of your car on a rainy day, appreciating and taking in the embrace of the outside world.

For the Lo-Fi 4PM sunny evenings, feeling as shit as ever, wondering how to get away from it all.

La Vie en rose translates to “Life Through Rose-Tinted Glasses”, and is the signature song of French singer Edith Piaf (1915-1963). This timeless gem is a beautiful love song about finding true love and appealed to those in the midst of surviving the terrors of war.
