Ello ello! Here is part 2 of a series of videos from our research and development! 

This scene introduces Peter as a baby as well as a larger than life character called Celia! Check it out!

Tuesday 5th February

Hello, hello!

Our rehearsal this week saw the beginnings of a whole new scene! The scene introduces Rachel's younger brother Peter when he is still a baby. It's quite a light-hearted scene and was certainly lots of fun to act out. I won't give too much away but it features a character called Celia who is, well, a bit bonkers really. She takes the 'baby voice' to a whole new level.

We did a condensed run through of all of the scenes we have, with a maximum of 1 minute per scene. This didn't go 100% smoothly but it is always really helpful to identify what the most important parts of the scenes are.

We also drew some tension graphs. If you don't know what these are, it's basically a graph or map of the tension and pace of your piece. We thought about what the tension graph would look like for each of our individual characters. It has many uses but it basically prompts you to look at where the tension and changes of pace occur in your piece at present in comparison to where you want it to be, whilst also helping to focus the direction of the piece.

Howdy! So I'm Lydia, the third and final member of No Plastic Wheels to be greeting you here in cyber space! Sorry I don't have any exciting pictures for you, we didn't take any this week..! So what is there to tell? Well we are back after the cold winter break, back into the warm and welcoming arms of weekly rehearsals and theatre games with the lovely Sam. Sadly Hannah wasn't there this week so Katie and I made sure we worked one and a half times as hard to make up for being one woman down! We've started developing the role of Peter, the little brother, and how having a family member with OCD can be a challenge for siblings too. We realised that so far we've just told Rachael's story and actually, knowing someone with something like OCD can be world changing for everyone. But we didn't want to make OCD this big, scary and horrible monster that ruined everything. It's just a part of Rachael that takes some adjusting to, for her, her friends and her family.

Also, Peter, so far played by Katie, is adorable and could well have a trilogy of shows just about him! We had to get more of him in there!

We've almost mapped out the whole play now and I know I am definitely looking forward to finding out how Rachael's journey ends and showing it off to others too!

*shakes hand* Pleasure to meet you, I'm Kate the youngest member of NPW. ;) I've been with these crazy folk for about a year and wouldn't leave them. Apart from being the youngest I am also known within the group for infamously being late and achieve what can be called 'the mugshot' in every picture ever taken shown in the photos below.

Our current rehearsals are based around a short script on OCD which we are writing ourselves. The main character being Rachael who is suffering with the mental illness at a young age. The overall plan is to get a really awesome piece of theatre together and take it round secondary school. 

In our last rehearsal we took lots of pictures and made some videos of existing scenes so that our technical genius Hannah can put together a cool promotional video. Some of my favourite photos are here..

Hello and welcome to the first ever No Plastic Wheels blog post! What on earth is “No Plastic Wheels?", I hear you ask! We are an emerging theatre company specialising in devised ensemble performances. The production we are currently working on is based around OCD.

Our last rehearsal was an interesting one. We had intended to film some clips of our upcoming production but arrived to find that the door to the lights room was locked and the heaters were loudly blowing hot air. After unsuccessfully searching the entire premises for the caretaker, we decided to crack on and postpone filming for next week. We started by discussing logos, leaflets and posters and the following picture was the outcome. I think it is fair to say that we won’t be using this as our logo, though I must admit to rather liking the concept of a turtle with a moustache, zooming around on roller-skates.  

We worked on developing two of our scenes and took some pictures. Here are a few of us working with puppets:
