I started reading All The Young Dudes on 16 March 2026, and finished it on 28 March 2026. I think the resurfacing of my Harry Potter obsession translated into for me the known but unexplored territory of the Marauders. I recall Sirius Black being my favourite character since I was maybe 8, it’s like that audio of Lana Del Rey. “The first time I saw him, I was very struck by him.” I’d heard small remnants of the rumours of Taylor Swift being Mskingbean89 so maybe it was meant to happen. The edits on TikTok further increased my desire, and I remember seeing a specific Wolfstar edit to the waiting game by Harry Styles, with David Thewlis, Garry Oldman, Ben Barnes, and Andrew Garfield. That was it then. So I locked in. Around 11 days, slacking off actual studying (sorry Remus Lupin) and reading this genuine piece of literature. I don’t think I could put into words my ‘journey’ of reading this, I’m trying. I got my ao3 invitation in the process though yay. Years 1-3 made me feel like a little kid reading Harry Potter. I truly sympathised and loved Remus, and the friendship between the marauders is pure, so to say. Years 4-7 might’ve been my favourite, up and down but still amazing. Yes I love my gay dads, Sirius and Remus. “Have you ever kissed anyone, Remus?” I have screenshots of the book in my camera roll, I’d love to print myself a physical copy so I can annotate my favourite parts. I think gay love is so beautiful, sorry. The CARE that Sirius and Remus have for each other, even though they occasionally struggle to show it. That’s what love’s about. James, Lily, Marlene, Mary, don’t worry I love you too. Domestic wolfstar is my favourite. Sirius “blushed.” I experienced heartbreak in the next bit of the book, sat on a plane. Grant, you’re a king too. Fuck off. I had tears down my face, acting nonchalant. Misunderstandings in romance genuinely make me lose my mind. FUCKING COMMUNICATE. But, it was nonetheless beautiful. I love you, Sirius Orion Black and Remus John Lupin. They’re on my bedroom walls by the way. The ending… beautiful, bittersweet? Thank you Mskingbean89 for this masterpiece. Wolfstar is my one true pairing. I love you, All The Young Dudes. Bye. Gonna go eat the Remus special toast x.
