I had a dream last night that once you fought your last battle, you were gifted an article of clothing that was cut into slits and braided. How many braids you had/how long your braids represented how many battles you'd fought. I still felt like me, there was a mirror in front of me and I looked like me, but I could tell that at my core I was someone adjacent. I had this subconscious feeling that the world was younger than the one I came from, indicated by the dirty armor hanging in the corner of my room. It was my room, but it looked like a cave. Moss clung to every surface and in the center of the room was a pond of sorts, crystal blue and covered in flowering lily pads. I was stood in front of my mirror with my dad behind me. He looked the same too, but more tired and his voice was hoarse. I felt older, and there was a harshness I felt towards him that I didn't recognize. Whoever this "not me" was, she was wearing one of these special garments. It was a black dress with a turtleneck, with braiding going down each side under her armpits and an entire braid going all the way from the neck to the pelvis. I felt tired from events I hadn't seen, and her face stayed blank the whole time. My dad seemed bigger, like how he looked like a giant when I was a little girl. He was holding up my hair to study the braiding on my clothes. I never turned to look at him, I could just vaguely see him in the reflection. Mostly I kept my eyes on the floor, my head bowed. He asked me if I had made this dress, sounding in awe and worried. Like he was hoping she had been the one to make this, that she truly hadn't gone out and fought for all this time. My doubleganger shook her head no. There was a grief he carried, regret maybe, and I just felt tired. I figured she should have been proud, but she wasn't. She was just tired.
I dunno what the fuck any of that means but I might use it in a story or something. I woke up before anything else could happen.
I remember when I was younger, anytime I watched a movie where the characters have to kill a scary monster/alien, I always thought the act of killing it was intended to be part of the horror. Like there’s this amazing creature that we’ve never seen before, and maybe under different circumstances we could’ve coexisted with it, but it’s trying to attack you and you have to defend yourself, but by destroying it you also destroy the ability to ever understand it and that’s sad and is supposed to make you feel conflicted.
It was not until well into my adulthood that I realized most people do not have complicated feelings about movies where people have to kill a scary alien monster, nor is that necessarily meant to be part of the narrative (unless it very obviously is). They just want the scary thing to die because it’s scary. I don’t have a real conclusion to this I just started thinking about it for some reason.
I have the exact same feelings! I think the movie Nope conveys this really well. Without too many spoilers, a big theme and a large part of the horror of the movie is that animals will be animals and at their core; they do not intend to cause harm. They don't know any better, they don't know our morals, so we are the cruelest creatures when we have to kill them because we have a conscience.
(Also, Jordan Peele is one of my favorite movie directors, go watch all of his movies because he rocks. Nope happens to be my favorite of his!)

"if Jax is a trans woman she's still an abuser so she's bad representation so the show is transphobic" you're an idiot. you want your blorbos to be perfect ideal angels, I want my blorbos to be realistic, nuanced, flawed human beings, we are not the same. I LIKE that she's messy and fucked up and problematic, I think it's a realistic depiction of how a lot of repressed and traumatized trans women are. I think the show goes to great lengths to explore how and why she is the way she is, and to evoke sympathy for this kind of person. it doesn't excuse her actions but it does make them understandable. and I think the fact women like that deserve sympathy is an idea worth stating and worth shouting. yes she's a bully and she hurt everyone around her and that may never change. she still deserves sympathy.

Spoilers for TADC Episode 9!
I will now break down crying anytime I hear "Isn't she lovely?". Finally got to take TADC off my filtered tags because WOOHOOOO!!! I MADE IT TO THE FINALE WITHOUT SPOILERS!!!!
Literally screamed and cried and threw up multiple times. Also, the abstractions being aquatic?!?!?!? It makes sense and by God it is a beautiful visual. They get to go grieve their friends and see them!!! ALSO, I WAS RIGHT ABOUT JAX MOSTLY. I KNEW IT. PACK IT UP SKITTLE SQUAD!!!! I Saw The TV Glow references were fucking awesome!!!! Good fucking show.
Being disabled is hard obviously but I do find little amusements in my cryptidness.
Folks freaking out when I can bring my ankle to my chest with my knee literally backwards, little gasps when my fingers bend all the way back, scaring people when I suddenly appear behind them because my autism tells me it's interrupting if I announce my presence so instead I Lurk until they see me, the loud popping anytime I move like my bones are resetting back into place, concern at my vacant expressions. I love being a Creature.
people in tf2 chat are a tossup between toxic or really funny and nice. most players stay silent and just play the game (which is what i recommend if you dont want attention on you). back when i first started i had anxiety issues where i could barely play because my anxiety was so bad. people usually wont say anything at all because theyre more focused on the game rather than focused on you, and if they kill you they just move onto the next thing. and you can leave whenever you want and nobody really pays attention to it
and if someone DOES say something mean to you just remember that theyre going to forget all about you by the next match and theyre literally getting heated over a stranger over team fortress 2. like that's really embarrassing. you can turn the chat off too if your anxiety gets too much to handle or it gets too toxic. playing with a friend helps lighten the mood imo. if thats not an option, i listen to music or have a show in the background to keep myself from being too nervous. but its been years and im mostly over it now 🤷 i believe in you. its a really fun game and taking the time to fight the anxiety is worth it imo

I guess I'm mainly just worried since it's a team game, so I don't wanna be a burden or anything lol. I'm sorta like this on every multiplayer, I was the kid who was subjected to public shaming rituals during gym class because my reaction time and coordination was lower than the other kids and it has instilled a primal fear to be "bad at game" and be yelled at for it. I'm also a gal so I don't want to be subjected to the horrors that come with being in a male dominated space online, so I might keep my mic off.
I've been playing with the training levels though and it's been fun! Just gotta work myself up to playing with actual people hehhehe.

was talking to my gf about my fear of dying young for being trans and my mom putting my deadname on my gravestone, and she said "i hope that never happens, but if it does, i will carve your name into your grave myself if i have to." and i think theres something extremely raw about that sentiment and trans community in general. you can kill only our bodies, but you cant kill transsexuality
