In the very first Ren desing you could see the Crystal.
Even tho i haven't drawn this Crystal in a while (you can notice its absence on the other redesings i've made) he's actually VERY important to the lore in both Rise and 2012 versions.
This Crystal holds a power much bigger than you can imagine.
so, a while ago @weirddkidd made a comic about Ren, called "Ren's story" "..or atleast what she remembers from it" and it's basically just a little comic about Ren, that doesn't seem to explain why she is there doing what she is doing.
but it implies a lot of things.
and now im gonna finally sit and analyze this comic, line by line.

(yes that's important, i'll tell you why)
before we start, let's take a look at the title of the post because there's a interesting detail.
it's the phrase "...or atleast what she remembers from it." AND THIS EXPLAINS EVERYTHING. well not everything but you get what i mean-
this explains why we don't see how Ren ended up there and why.
she just doesn't remember much.
-the comic-
the story starts off by Ren just running away from something (?)
and apparently, she stops very suddently, almost as if she heard or saw something.
she seems hesitant, almost scared of turning to look behind. she holds the crystal tight in her hand.
but when she does, she looks terrified of whatever she saw.
Ren says "nononono" repeatedly, panicking.
AND THAT'S WHEN I NOTICED. You see the lightning? It's yellowish. Like fire. She saw something burning
and that's the detail i just hoped that atleast SOMEONE, at least one person, noticed.
but i swear, nobody said anything about it.
Ren then cries, and runs away. faster than before.
some time later, Ren is still running. and then she says a rather interesting line.
"i hope you're okay, mom.."
Ren has a mom. and look, i don't know much of her honestly.
but this comic is telling something.
notice how Ren was holding the crystal, shielding it? well Ren was "saving the crystal". this crystal is very important and powerful.
but mari never tries to explain to me, saying "we're still gonna get there.", as if she was fast at drawing or even writing 😒
and what about that fire we saw? well, the line "i hope you're okay, mom" rather implies that maybe Ren's house was literally burning and maybe her mom was there.
judging by how Ren closed her eyes, almost in denial, and just hoped that her mom was alright gives me the idea that she just couldn't believe at first that her mother was dead.
but gang, i have some good news to you. mari told me that she was gonna make some sort of remake of this comic, but a bit different.

so what i think this is, is it that it is an infection au of some sort, those yall have seen plenty of. but MAYBE, donnie's the only one who's affected here, im not sure.

the title of the post was "i gently open the door..", everyone has heard this before, everyone knows where it is from, but why was it used for this specifically?
well i don't think its because of suicide or anything of that sort, i know why.
Well, because the light source is coming from a door. Someone is opening the door. (wow, what a surprising surprise wow wooow)
but who? well could be any of the turtles, who knows. but that explains why the phrase was chosen!
because mari is a bum trying to scare people or some bullshit..
Since we talking about light source, i noticed this light source coming from inside the room
