Still chipping away at a Tsunami design I’m happy with. And her boyfriend’s here, too (and a smaller, earlier conceptual version of him). They’re a little too similar looking for my liking, so I’ll probably revisit Riptide and sharpen him up. I had another design for him I had forgotten about so I’ll probably merge the two.

Trying to lean into the “flowy” design motif for Tsunami, so her linework is supposed to be swept back and smooth. Riptide is supposed to have more of a jagged feel (riptide just feels like a jagged word to me), but he still has some friendly roundness to him. In the future, I want to make his horns sharper and his ‘hair’ a little more loose and playful looking. Yes, I did give him a little eyebrow notch.

So, it should be noted that I love me some ‘Doctor Who’.  More the classic series than the new one, but Patrick Troughton Matt Smith traveling with Barbara and Ian Amy and Rory has managed to win me over a surprising amount.  Maybe it’s all those classic shout-outs.  I don’t know.  

Anyway, since the new casting announcement I have been even more excited about upcoming Who.  Which led me to watch a lot of old Who.  It’s a thing.  And after a lot of viewing, I have just this to say:

(VIRTUALLY) EVERY DOCTOR HAS FABULOUS HAIR.  Seriously.  Amazing.  Different each time, but amazing nonetheless.  I wondered why no one seemed to have done a proper tribute to it.  And then I realized that fabulous hair is 100% relevant to this blog’s interests (yes, I know that a lot of people think that Centauri hair is silly.  We pretend those people don’t exist and watch another episode of 'Babylon 5’).    

So without further ado, a tribute to the Doctor’s great hair:

someone in my askbox has informed me, under certain circumstances, yes. and that image is live, so be careful with it.

which was my first theory before i went down the source code rabbit hole, although there must be a certain threshold for editing it since in the past people have posted censored versions where it still deletes your blog.

5. can i use it as my icon/can i send it to someone in dms/can i upload it if it's not in a post/can i post an edited version of the picture?

back when this first happened if you did any of the above it deleted your blog, unless it was pretty heavily edited (someone in my discord put him behind bars - you know like he was caged - and i think when we uploaded that it didn't delete the person's blog? i could be wrong though). see the above ask for the most recent information. someone in the notes earlier (don't remember who, sorry) also said that you can upload the original via mobile and it kills your blog, but if you try to post it on desktop it blocks it from being uploaded, so that's also another route you could go if you want to experiment.

I was feeling unhappy with how human his original design looked so I explored a less mammalian version

Xybil is from a species that are a splice of insects and reptiles. The unplated parts of their bodies are covered in soft scales.

They technically have both male and female characteristics, and therefore don’t have gendered pronouns like we do, but while Xybil was learning different Earth languages he chose to use he/him pronouns because he liked how they sounded.

He’s also humanity’s BIGGEST superfan. As the biologist of his crew, he grew a special interest for humans. Mayybe too much of an interest though… when his project suddenly was thrown under fire he jumped ship and fled to Earth, very quickly falling for a human man. He’s very much so considered a monster lover in the eyes of the rest of his kind, he’s weird and proud about it.
