Really weird to me how biphobes insist bi women are Basically Straight™ and reap all the benefits of straight privilege when we're literally at the highest risk for IPV. If we were really able to effortlessly blend in with heterosexual women then there wouldn't be such a large discrepancy in IPV rates between straight and bisexual women. "Straight passing privilege" is a myth that assumes the discrimination bisexuals face only occurs on the assumption that they're gay, and only serves to alienate bisexuals from the larger community by painting them as intruders.

It's so frustrating trying to have conversations about bisexuality on here because it quickly becomes clear that a lot of people still unconsciously believe that we can just "choose" what gender to date. You guys seem to understand that lesbians and gay men don't want to fuck every woman or man they come across, so why do so many of you still believe that bisexual attraction works this way? Saying "just date women lol" to a bisexual woman who is airing her grievances about being mistreated by her male partner makes the assumption that it's just as simple as finding any woman and throwing ourselves at them.

it’s crazy cuz there really are so few bisexual characters in media, despite bisexuals making up the majority of the lgbt community, yet every time there’s a new bisexual character there’s 90000 think pieces about how bisexuality is overused, it’s a “default” used by companies afraid of lgbt-ness or whatever the fuck, “why does it always need to be bisexual :(“ like y’all just cannot stand to see us anywhere ever for any reason.

It's so fucking evil how common the stereotype of "bi woman with homophobic straight boyfriend" is and how often it's used to portray bisexual women as reckless and dangerous to our own community when we face the highest rates of intimate partner violence within the entire community. Genuinely fuck you guys for pushing the narrative that we get the privilege of ignoring homophobia if it suits us when in reality we are often the first targets of this behavior.
