Hang Out

Technically Blueberry wasn’t allowed to go to the Fell worlds by himself. But that was one of those ‘rules’ meant to baby and coddle him as if he weren’t a full grown adult who knew perfectly well how to take care of himself. Which didn’t mean he wasn’t nervous but he didn’t let it stop him from punching the coordinates into the machine and stepping through the portal as soon as it popped up.
While waiting for it close – a rule that actually made sense lest something be wrong with one of the machines, resulting in a portal staying open for long enough to cause who even knew what kinds of problems – Blueberry looked down at himself to check his outfit over one last time. Red and black were very much not what he usually wore, making looking down at himself a strange sight. He looked cool though and it should let him fit in enough to not be noteworthy as long as he also kept his voice down.
The portal closed with a soft almost electrical zap type sound, signaling he was free to head up the stairs. He paused at the door just long enough to put on his best uninterested scowl – which despite practicing in the mirror he still wasn’t great at but it would hopefully do – before opening it and heading through. After double checking to make sure it was locked, he made his way around to the front the house. Naturally his house key would work here too but barging in would be rude so he knocked.
True to pattern and expectation, Edge answered after only a beat or two. He looked Blueberry up and down for a moment before stepping back and gesturing him inside. “Interesting outfit,” he said as he closed and locked the door. They were very into locking doors in the Fell worlds.
Blueberry did a little twirl so he could see the back of it too. “You like it? I made it myself.”
“Impressive. You look almost like you fit in here. The cape’s a bit much though. But I assume this means you intend to spend some time here. May I ask why?”
“I want to hang out. And I was wondering if maybe you would like to hang out too?”
Edge’s eye lights widened for just a moment with surprise before he reigned his expression back in. “I see. I assume your brother doesn’t know you’re here.”
“Nope, he does not. I told him I was going to visit the other Tale world today. Is that a problem?” Had Blueberry been misreading his interactions with Edge? So far he’d been treating Blueberry like an adult, a thing many people even among their little group, failed to do. To be fair when Razz was wearing his heeled boots – which was always – Blueberry was the smallest of the lot, making it easy to think him to be all around sweet and innocent. Edge had so far never failed on that front though.
“No. I just assumed you would probably keep this type of thing from him. I suppose I wouldn’t be against the idea of… hanging out, depending on what you had in mind for it.”
“I would like it if you showed me around your world a little. Maybe just Snowdin but anywhere else you think is cool, especially if it’s different from mine, would be nice too.” Blueberry and Stretch had shown him and Red around their world a while ago. The favor had never been returned and it was past time that it be. “And then maybe we could come back here after and you could share some of your cooking tips while I help you cook dinner.”
Edge thought in silence for a couple seconds before nodding. “Sure. I find that to be an acceptable hang out session. While we’re out, stay quiet and close to me though. And if I tell you to do something, do it without question. Understood?”
“Understood!” Blueberry saluted with his best serious face. This was going to be if not fun at least interesting. He’d been hoping for some alone time with Edge for a while now and it was finally time for it.
