But one time, it just so happens that Rocky and Adrian need a babysitter, and Grace is already busy with something. That's okay, though. Their pebbles have more than one weird uncle.

Grace gets home that evening after a full day of the most intense parent-teacher interviews he's ever done (not because the Eridian parents are mad at him, no, but because they're just as curious about humans as their kids, and now it's their turn to ask the questions). He walks in the door, absolutely exhausted, and looking forward to just spending the rest of the night hanging out on the couch with Simon, eating their dinner and watching a movie.

Only, when he walks into the house and stumbles into the living room, he immediately draws up short.

He's found Simon lying across the couch, stretched out across the length of it with his head propped up by a pillow. There are two very tiny pebbles currently curled up on his chest in their little xenonite balls that Rocky made them so they could visit their uncles anytime, clearly fast asleep. Simon is holding them both gently with his one arm while staring down at them like they're something precious, like he can't bare to look away from them for even a second.

It's such an adorable scene that Grace can feel his heart melting into goo.

Not wanting to disturb them, however, Grace very carefully backs out of the room before he can be spotted. He's well aware that the sleeping pebbles won't notice his presence, but he's reluctant to disturb Simon when he's clearly having a moment with them.

Instead, he sneaks into the kitchen and grabs a snack before heading back outside to sit on the steps leading down to the beach. He doesn't go far; he wants to stay close in case Simon or the kids need him. But he's far enough away that he can enjoy the smell of the simulated ocean, the artificial breeze in his hair.

He already knew he was in love with Simon. But seeing him cuddling with Rocky and Adrian's pebbles? Oh. He didn't think he could find that man more attractive, and he has been proven very wrong.

I also like to think that in Eden giving seeds, leaves, or anything related to a tree and nature to someone is a well know, and quite fancy, way to ask someone to marry you, since trees are not only something super weird, but also has a lot of religious meaning for those who grew in Eden. If you give someone something related to a tree and they return the favour, at the eyes of Eden culture, you got married.

So when Grace gave Simon those are seeds and little tree sprout, Simon broke in tears, for the emotion of having his own tree and been seen as spouse material, Grace's spouse. In a rush Simon took a leave of one of the trees of the forest and gave it to Grace, as a way to say that he accepts Grace purpose and hugs him with all he had.

In Eden kisses and anything carnal is seen as a waist of energy, resources and time, and probably sinful, with all the cultish- religious guilty-sacrifice mentality, so a hug means a lot.

Simon, super emotional and very happy, drowning in his tears, hugging Grace as if he wants to squeeze the life out of it: I promise you that I will be worthy of this honour.

Grace, thinking "wow, he really loves the nature, good for him to have a pasion", trying his best to return the hug without losing his breath, nor squashing the tree sprout: I know, I know, you are already worthy, buddy.

Simon just cries harder.

such a cool concept i immediately got plagued with the need to draw it

- the plot of PHM where Grace is sent to space with no memories is the same but the amnesia they give to Grace makes him completely forget why he was sent to space in the first place so he starts to explore and comes across the Eden space station and the COI space station.

- Grace explores both so he can get to know their cultures but realise he doesn’t want to be on either one so he makes the Hail Mary (somehow) a Med clinic and he gives out flyers and puts up posters in either side.

- it obviously takes a while for anyone to actually use the clinic but he has a list of rules that are up. “If you’re here at the clinic it is neutral ground. No fighting. You’re safe here and I will treat you with kindness and not judge you as to why you are here.”

- people do eventually use the clinic but are obviously hesitant which grace completely understands. He doesn’t expect Eden or the COI to trust him.

- Grace hates that they have to ration food on Eden and the COI so he tries to find an easy way to grow food so whoever comes in can have food.

- He doesn’t charge people who come in for help but he has received gifts from the people he’s helped especially the kids (ie. Drawings or little wood carvings) which he all keeps and never throws anything away.

- The day Simon comes in with his mini crew, he’s hurt badly by an explosion that went off. Simon looses his arm and has burns on his body and Grace and armando get to work helping Simon the best they can.

- Simon’s crew doesn’t leave the clinic until Simon has woken up. (He still thinks Grace is an angel but in the sense of “how the fuck is this kind Angel of a man here in the fucking pits of hell?!”)

- whilst Simon is recovering he stays with Grace and it takes a while for him to warm up to grace but he slowly starts to fall for Grace and his kind heart.

- both the COI and Eden have tried to get Grace to join their side so he can only take care of their people instead of the other but Grace absolutely refuses as he wants to help anyone regardless of where they’re from. They both reluctantly agree to let Grace keep doing what he’s doing. They send over medical supplies when needed.

- Simon sees what he thinks is a prayer written on a wall and asks Grace about it and Grace says it’s the Hippocratic oath (I can’t spell for shit so if I’ve spelt it wrong please correct me!)

- Grace has become well known at this point in the communities that sometimes lost children come to the clinic scared and ask Grace to help them because their parents have told them that if they get lost or go missing, find Dr Grace. He will help you find your way back to us and he does.

- he also becomes sort of a teacher to both Eden and the COI kids and teaches them about science and everything else. (Simon sits in and watches these classes too)

- Grace at some point hasn’t slept in fucking days and asks Simon for the favour of watching over the clinic whilst he gets some sleep which Simon agrees to and people rush in and ask for help and they yell at Simon saying they want dr Grace and not him and Simon snaps at them, telling them that Grace hasn’t slept in fucking days and needs his rest. He also tells them to shut the fuck up so they have to whisper to try and not wake him.

- The COI eventually try and convince Simon to encourage Grace to join their side. (They’re still just friends at this point but they’re crushing on each other) the reason they want to use Simon is because they can see Grace cares for him. Simon obviously refuses and if you say no to the COI, well…..needless to say it won’t end well for you.

- The one day Simon isn’t at the clinic is when the COI attack Grace and injure him badly. Simon is pissed but his heart warms at the patients from both Eden and the COI trying to fight back against the people hurting Grace and Simon helps care for Grace.

- The COI absolutely trashed the clinic. Medical supplies are unusable, the food grace is growing? Destroyed. It’s going to take months to regrow that. The humanity Quilt that Grace loves and holds dearly to his heart? Torn to pieces.

- whilst grace is asleep and resting, Simon tries to sew the quilt back together and people from Eden and the COI come and bring their own patches they’ve made and help re-sew it so that once Grace is awake, he can have it.
