do you ask artists for permission to translate and upload their work?

no, i don’t. i was under the impression that it was enough if i paid enough attention to their profiles (ie. whether or not they stated they didn’t want people to repost work) and gave them credit on the post.
however, since you mentioned it, i’ve gone and looked up posts related to reposting from art from pixiv and i realise that i’ve been disrespectful to the artists and i really should’ve been asking for permission in the first place because on top of that it turns out it’s an actual rule that you shouldn’t repost work from pixiv without permission from the artist.
since i’ve also been planning to remake the blog for a while, i will definitely start asking for permission for any future translations i do after i get around to remaking. i’ve been wanting to make my translations blog my primary blog since i hardly go on my personal anymore, so… until then i guess!
