He looked longingly into his own eyes. He saw fear, panic, and a bit of nostalgia - he has already started to mourn the imminent loss. Despite the chaos all around him, he knew exactly what was happening and how it would end.

He wasn't expecting that with this quick look he would nevertheless come undone. He knew what would happen. He knew nothing could be done. He thought he had come to terms with it. But with that last splash of the ocean-blue of his eyes, his vision blurried and he became a helpless child again for just a moment.
