How did you plan out emhm?
So there's a Notepad file that's about 92 KB. I keep the entirety of it at the end of the file I'm writing in. And when the file has 100 chapters I start a new file and move all that junk to it. It's lists of names and facts that maybe only gotten mentioned once because my memory is awful. Or snips of scenes I ended up not using. And lists of events that I delete things off of once I write them. Sometimes the events just get deleted period because by the time I get to them the situation has changed too much for them to happen. But what you're probably asking is this - Is there a secret outline someplace that lists everything that's going to happen? And the answer is no. I don't pre-write scenes period. And part of that is because then I'd be rushing to get to them and it messes with my motivation. Also once you get a feel for your characters, you can kind of hear them? If you understand their behavior; you can drop them in a situation and just see where the conversation goes. But having that flexibility is what makes writing enjoyable for me. EMHM isn't racing to some grand conclusion. It is un-apologetically a soap opera. It's nice to just experience their world. And it's the opposite of TSAMS in that I don't like to kill characters off if I'm done with them. I'd rather let them go do something else offscreen because I might have ideas for them later and want them again. I think one of the biggest mistakes to try to work around as a storyteller is letting things get too grand in scope. Don't gather up all your friends and kill God unless you are dead certain you want to end it all there. EMHM is about the little dramas. Family fights and moderate threats, the hell of working with the public and the ups and downs of complex trauma and relationships. Death and children and sex and sickness.
And most importantly; the complex web of causality that began where Sun chose mercy and keeps rippling outward into all the other dimensions and timelines. If you want to see the biggest thing that I scrapped; I thought I would need to touch on some of the cameos from video games stuff that they did in the show for viral clicks. And I have not needed it. Same thing with the astrals. I really hate Lunar's astral arc and I'm not doing it. But I guess I can't really answer your question directly? Sorry. :/ Thank you for asking though! [I don't do rough drafts either.]
