let’s do another meta topic! how about … vander and his view on/relationship with caitlyn, after her and vi reunite? (:
I've been sitting on this one forever, because as excited as I've been to answer it, I've also been having a hard time putting my thoughts to paper on it, so to speak.
The shortest answer is: complicated.
Gonna start at the beginning, and work my way up the timeline. Vander by no means believes in the whole "Sins of the father" mentality. He figures Caitlyn is around Vi's age, which means that she was a kid when The Day of Ash took place. Despite the fact that she's from Piltover, he doesn't expect her to know what really happened on that bridge that day, if she knows that anything happened at all. (Because while it was a tragedy for Zaun, he figures it's either something the Council would have swept under the rug with Piltover, or Piltover simply didn't teach their kids about.)
However, he's long respected Cassandra Kiramann because of her work on the ventilation system for Zaun. You know that story that Jinx and Vi reminisce about, that Vander would always tell them before bed -- about Janna saving the trapped miners with gusts of her wind? Well, I have headcanons about that which tie into this headcanon, funnily enough. Of course Janna is the Zaunite guardian deity, and there are likely plenty of stories like that one -- but my headcanon for that story is that it represents a larger picture: the truth of how the ventilation system helped to save miners' lives by allowing them to work in better, less toxic conditions by filtering out the Grey. Of course, this isn't even touching on the effects the Grey had on children especially, especially those whose parents were miners -- like Vi and Powder, for example. So really, her funding and installing that ventilation system was vital to Zaunites' survival as a whole, but also the survival of his friends and family. (Because I also have other headcanons that his parents had both been miners, but both had succumbed to complications due to the Grey before Vander was even 20 years old.)
A massive thing for Vander is giving the kids of Zaun a better life and a better future than people like him, Silco, Felicia, and Connol had. So regardless of her personal motives for doing it, Cassandra Kiramman, unlike her fellow councilmembers, showed at least some level of compassion towards the plights of Zaun.
Now, Vander had no idea what was going on during the period of time when he was trapped in Reveck's lab, being experimented on. And even after he'd broken free and rampaged at Stillwater as the beast he'd been mutated into, and during the time he was at the Commune, there was no awareness of the events that had taken place or that were going on in Piltover + Zaun. (In fact, up until the moment when he regained himself when protecting Jinx from Rictus, Vander had only brief moments of what could be called "lucidity".) So everything that he did find out wasn't shared with him until after it had already happened, while he was recovering in the hospital. By that point, everything was different; Sevika was on the Piltover Council, for example, to advocate for Zaun, and as such, Zaun was moving towards a better place on a more equal standing as its sister city. Not to mention Caitlyn and Vi were together, which complicated his already complicated feelings about everything he'd learned regarding what had gone on.
Ultimately, though, what it boiled down to was the "now" -- because if anyone not just believes, but knows that people can change, it's Vander himself. He isn't going to judge Caitlyn based off of the fact that she's from Piltover, and grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth. He isn't even going to judge her by the fact that she's Cassandra Kiramman's daughter, at least not in the most direct sense. His opinion of her is based on who she appears to be now that he sees her for himself, and he believes that, just like Cassandra did, she has a good heart.
